I listen to the forgotten music of the 90's. I feel like I belong in that time, just because I have the mind for it. I listen mainly to the Alternative/grunge bands like Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, and The Smashing Pumpkins

Heavy Blues Rock.

Think Aerosmith. Or Chuck Berry by way of Whitesnake, with lots of George Thorogood and a huge helping of Led Zeppelin.

It's the music I play, listen to, and love.

You should probably include an Assorted Blues option, you never know, there are some of us out there.

Really I like a bit of most things though if I had to choose one it would be Metal. Favourite Bands include:

Metallica
AC/DC
Disturbed
Muse
Saliva

But if you were to look at my iTunes you would see I've got everything from Dance and Techno to DeVotchka to Muse to Metallica.

What kind of band is Muse? All i've heard of them was Knights of Cydonia on guitar hero 3 and it sounded quite terrible to me. Maybe i haven't heard their good stuff.

It's hard to give them a specific label. But their best stuff would be:

Starlight
Time is Running Out
Hysteria
Sunburn
Uprising
Resistance
Plug in Baby

Thats in no particular oder by the way. Chances are though if you don't like Knights of Cydonia (only reason I haven't put it there is because you've already said you don't like it) you might not like the rest though their new album (The Resistance) and is fantastic and I believe Uprising rivals Starlight for their best song.

I actually suck at distinguishing sub-genres of metal so I'll choose heavy metal for simplicity's sake. But I'm surprised that rap isn't an option. Despite the fact that it's almost universally hated on this site, it's still a very popular genre of music as a whole.

You kept on changing the OP on me so I have to keep on editing this! But yes, classical it is for myself, nothing else compares to the masterpieces they used to write. Like this one.

Edit: The guy looks really messed up in the still frame of that movie...
I've missed your influence in these kinds of threads. Classical is awesome indeed.

OT: For me its Electronica, hence my name. Rock is second, but its all about the beat for me.

i like 70-early 90s stupidly happy rock and pop, and from the modern days i listen to punk.

which shocks many since ive been wearing suits since i was 15, apparently you need to look like you have issues whit your parents in order to appreciate punk.

edit: starting all the 3 quoted videos of the piece of classic music at different times sounded so incredibly awesome.

I listen to a little of everything, but in a pinch I'd say Rock [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ttmjiYDk7Y&feature=related] with a dash of jazz. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tq1VD9MXQo&feature=PlayList&p=74C7F160EE8A9D54&index=2] (although I wouldn't really call Derek Trucks [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N65cP52NC8s] jazz, he's usually classified as a rock/jazz hybrid).

Metal of many forms, all but nu-metal and anything that ends in "core". Classical(some at least), Jazz, Blues, Funk, Classic Rock/Southern Rock...not country rap or techno...

My favourite bands...WAAAAY too many to list, but Opeth, Dream Theatre, (old)Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Pantera, Testament, and Overkill are the top...8...I think.

Mostly Rock with a dash of heavy stuff and a good amount of 80's pop.

I'm listening to Queen's "7 Seas of Rhye" right now !

I'm an grunge/alt-rock/90's kind of guy, so rock.

Punk was cool when the Sex Pistols and the Ramones were doing it, but it sort of lost the shock value when other people started to do the simplified rock thing. Everything since those first two bands sounds the same to me.

Metal is kind of the same way, with Sabbath and Led Zeppelin (yeah, I know a lot of people don't consider Zeppelin metal, but they're one of the hardest bands I listen to and they counted in 1976) being amazing creative forces but everything afterward seeming to just be hounding their style.

I don't mind jazz. I don't actively try to listen to it, but if it comes on, I don't get upset. Blues is the same way.

That's about it.

Everything branching off of Rock: Atmospheric Rock, Psychodelic Rock, Classic Rock, Gothic Rock, Power Metal is ok, some Metal - styles are fine too... but i can't take singers screaming or growling.

But of course i am open to nearly any music (as long as it is melodic). I can't take Techno, House and such crap though, and have a very hard time with Rap and Hip-Hop.

Overall my favourite bands are: Lake of Tears, Anathema, Led Zeppelin, Blind Guardian... and from there on all around.
