Music has played a huge role in history, inspiring people to...erm... write more songs.

Nonetheless, music is important. So what do you like?

Some rock, some classical, but mostly metal.

Of metal, I usually listen to stuff like Meshuggah and Behemoth.

I'd say alternative rock, but I'm starting to get into electro these days.

And I'm stunned that nobody has ever done a topic so obvious on this site until now before.

Other. Modern music sucks, so I listen to Verdi, Mozart, and Strauss (the latter is my favorite composer.)

Punk can be classified as rock.
So can rap and hip hop.

Classical and European Metal.

You mean the Favorite Music Genre? I've seen them many times before, but the last one was a month or two ago. It turns out that rock/metal have a deathgrip on the average Escapist goer, myself included.

Alternative Rock, Metalcore, Post-hardcore, most of that.
Such as Hawthorne Heights, Bring Me The Horizon, A Skylit Drive, Blessthefall, stuff like that. The lyrics to most of their songs are...amazing..

I prefer the old Grunge and Alternative stuff from the 90's
Thats the only music that I think has whole chunks of the artist souls in them like the bands of the 60's-70's only louder, more distorted and worse looking
And by Alternative, I mean the actual genre and anything that went against the norm back then ie. Rage against the machine, Korn, SOAD ect.
And some assorted stuff from back then

Hah...when I look at the 'genre' column of my iTunes, it looks like it's been thrown together by someone with four heads...at least.
The biggest column is probably 'alternative' follow closely by 'rock' and 'pop'....but then there's blues, classical, lots of 'soundtrack', world, industrial, electronic, hip-hop...even bluegrass (from the True Blood soundtrack) and cabaret (Go Tom Waits!!)

Mix.

Coldplay/Rasphody Of Fire/The Offspring and some other rock.

For the kings for the love dont let me dance f****er dance! Just had to do that.

P.S I voted other because I didn't see the mixed option. Mixed and other should really be at the bottom. If it was I deserve a virtual kick in the shin.

To be honest, my music horizons have been ever so slightly broadened, but I will listen to anything. Provided it has a good beat, isn't rap and wasn't rap, isn't rap, and will never be rap.

But mostly metal, rock, punk.
Anaal Nathrakh the most. Pure, untainted, unadulterated, brutal, soul crushing metal of the darkest, haviest degree. If misanthropy and nihilism were sounds, Anaal Nathrakh would be them, mixed togther with liquid hate and baked in an oven in the deepest, hottest parts of Hell and all prepared and delivered by the legions of darkness in the cold void of space.
Not that I hate my life or anything, no, quite the contrary.
I hate other peoples lives.

I like a variety of music... I have Kanye West, Gorillaz, Matt & Kim, Vampire Weekend, and Blue Oyster Cult just to name a few, my music is pretty diverse. I like them all though.
