Poll: MW2: care package knifing

many people on MW2s multiplayer are getting frustrated about "care package knifing". some people call it a glitch. other people (like me) just say it's part of the game and someone figured out how to use care packages other than calling in equipment.

here's the scoop on care package knifing if you don't know what i'm talking about:
if you haven't noticed, while holding the care package marker you run slightly faster. now, if you combine that slight increase with marathon and lightweight, you go REALLY FREAKIN' FAST! (roughly 4x or 3x more than your normal speed). that kind of speed makes your knifing very effective because you can quickly move to the enemy and most of the time knife before they have a chance of getting you in their sights.

This is called "an exploit" - because this is what you do. Exploit game mechanics to get an upper hand, instead of relying on out-skilling or out-smarting your opponent.

I like knifing, I'm okay with people using marathon and lightweight to do some knifing. The care package thing is where I draw the line. Damn exploits.

I'm not sure what I'd call that. It's clearly something that unbalances the game and lets you exploit it to your advantage. It sounds like a design fault, though - even if it was accidental.

Perhaps you'd call it an exploit.

Meh, don't care, since my copy of the game broke. Which doesn't matter, I preferred MW 1 to the second outing, multiplayer was more streamlined and you didn't have hundreds of tons of bullshit flying above you at any one time, just a helicopter at the most. The campaign was also more challenging, and less crazy which made it more atmospheric. Spec Ops was awesome though, wish I'd finished that before it broke (only 5 ops to go on vet).

Predator missiles are awesome at first, but just seem unfair and an annoyance when you're at the receiving end.

Thought you meant people tossing the care package marker for the drop, in which you knife the person trying to take the package. >_> That's perfectly fair.

What you talk about though, that's not. I've been on the receiving end of this and it sucks horribly. Even when you shoot a shotgun point blank at the guy, hitting him, it doesn't kill him because of his speed.

I think they originally intended it as a method of getting into cover before using the package marker (IW obviously didnt think several parts of the game through), but it's been removed now anway.

its an exploit and therefore cheating. but in the pc version at least the latest update fixed it and now you run normal speed instead of ABNORMALY FAST ^^

It's retarded with or without the care package, commando/marathon/lightweight Knifing alone is fucking pathetic, it's unintended, it isn't a damn sword game and only people who can't aim or are bad resort to this.

Nope, they're also fixed. The issue with the post nerf 1887's was that when used with blingPro and FMJ-Akimbo they had the original range still, but that's now been sorted out.

All that needs fixing in terms of guns are the G18's and LOLtubes now.

Honestly don't care overmuch. I will admit people who use that "knifing class" are irritating as fuck when you're trying to get a decent killstreak going.

No, it's just using an exploit. By "outsmarting an opponent" i mean things like, for example, convincing him that you're retreating around a corner only to ambush him there.
