after attempting to use a Kinect 1.0 to play Skyrim, I am completely unsold on the whole concept of voice commands, and as a fat lazy guy, that's all I'd ever get out of a Kinect.. The only feature that impressed me was the quicksave/quickload that the Kinect introduced. But that's just that - adding that functionality without having to talk would have been better.

Pushing a button will always be better then waving your arm or saying some words. the only Dashboard functionality I like the Kinect for is searching the arcade/DLC shop, but even that, a few button presses will give you much more precise control.

It's just flawed from the conceptual stage. Even three syllables, "Equip Bow" is slower then just tapping up on the d-pad, especially when you consider that tapping up pauses the game, whereas saying "Equip bow" doesn't, and often, the Kinect will mis-hear you, so it comes down to saying it again and again.. It's just not worth it. I didn't even get around to playing with the shouts because I was so thoroughly unimpressed with its ability to parse commands that were in regular english.. Maybe I'll get around to trying it out, but I don't have high hopes.

I don't have any faith in Kinect 2.0 fixing these issues as the input lag involved in just saying words as opposed to pressing buttons is just inherent. It can fix the word recognition, but at the end of the day, it will still be slower.

..

So being required to spend an extra 100 dollars for a Kinect 2.0 which seems bigger and clunkier then a Kinect 1.0, I just don't want it, and that's "ermergerddersperringernerss" aside.

I like trying games out before buying them, so it was a good addition.
Except in that case someone would have had to buy the game first. So it was, in fact, a worst demo system than what existed before.

I still find it funny people saying that MS tried to screw them over. How? Yes i know all the DRM etc they wanted to add. But they were upfront about it. They didnt try to hide any of it. So how did they screw you? If anything they screwed themselves by making a console that turned away gamers. Remember, you dont have to buy it. No body is forcing you. Im not saying that it doesnt suck that MS gave us gamers to many reason to not by a console that we enjoy. Just that we have other opitions now with the new drm free XBone or PS4 and even the Wiiu and PC. Hell, we can even wait a year to see a price rise or see how the next gen consoles go before making the choice. Also, there is plenty of life left in 360 and PS3 so, for me, the next gen isnt really an issue until next year.

I put "other." I don't want an XBox One, but not because of their policies (although I'm not particularly fond of what they tried to pull on their customers), it's really because I've never been that fond of XBox games in general, they've just never had anything that's appealed to me.

You probably should have had a "No, because I don't like their games" option.

Yeah, right.
What incredible and logical argumentation on display here.
The decision was Microsoft's alone and no amount of denial will change that.

Was getting it before they changed their mind and still getting it now.

It's going to get the games I want and my friends are getting it, the other consoles have nothing of interest for me.

In my opinion nothing was wrong with it before the internet whined them into submission, I don't sell my games or buy used ones and I'm always connected to the internet right now anyways.

So I'm sad that the whiners made them remove the family sharing.

EDIT: It's also called Xbox One, not Xbone, get it right people.
It's both funny and sad that we (and I use the term "we" as loosely as possible) regard Microsoft changing back to the strictest DRM policies known to man as "backing off". It's also sad that there's so much back-slapping going on in regards to what we've lost. Yay! We've gone full retard! High fives all around! Ugh. Gamers have taken less over more and are actually proud of it.

And yes, as long as people have the mentality of twelve year olds, we will not hear the end of "Xbone". Double ugh.

I fail to see how the standard console DRM is stricter than standard console DRM + used games DRM + mandatory internet connection.

Still though, it sure such a shame we lost being able to let our friend's play demos of our games, just because some 'retards' want to keep their consumer rights. I mean, who really cared that our games could've been taken away at any moment by our corporate overlords? We got motherfucking demos! It's not like we have them nowadays or anything.

And to be honest? Xbone is a good name for it, considering that Microsoft was planning to fuck over their customers with it. And xbone is easier to say than xbox one, plus that way it doesn't get confused with the original xbox.

People are lazy to type the full name, same way the Playstation 4 is the PS4. Microsoft picked the name, blame them.

OT: Even without the evil DRM it has no games I want that PS4/PC don't offer me so I there's no point in me buying one. If I did want to get one I'd wait a few years and see if there are any signs of them reintroducing the DRM or if it's clear.

The Kinect is awful complete waste of money and for the price of the console with kinect you could get a decent gaming PC and that's not even including the price for games.

It's very hard to trust them, they had no middle ground and were pushing hard to force unwanted freature's, i also remember how the xbox live price went from 50$ a year to 60$ a year and no reason for it, They are not shameless on how shady they can be

Wasn't planning on getting one to begin with, but I voted "No, due to principles" since I sure as hell won't bother with it now. They only fell back because they realised no one would buy such an awful machine. Doesn't win any points back in my book.

The PS3 was my main console this generation by far, so I'll probably pick up a PS4 once I can spend a shitload of cash without feeling I could've done something better with it.

The problem is if their system proved popular enough it would have been adopted by everyone, and then we truly lose. that's how they tried to screw us, it's not a matter of hiding things.

While I don't think they'd be daft enough to try and sneak their plans back in given the huge backlash against them, nope, don't trust them one iota and I certainly haven't forgiven them. When someone calls me backwards and blind to the future because I don't like having to link my console to the internet for it to work (which would have been an impossibility this year seeing as I lived in University accommodation which doesn't allow access to consoles) I don't think I should give my custom to that person.
And I'm an actually bitter and generally hate filled person that I think they should feel some actual punishment by having some sales loss.

It's ok, don't panic. They'll get around to adding all the stuff they removed in their 180° maneuver by putting them into patches that you'll need to download to make your spankin' new Xbox One work, because if you don't, it'll be a paperweight until you do.
