Okay I'll go straight ahead and say it, I HATE operation flashpoint 2, I got really excited about it, on paper it sounds like my perfect game, so I went out and bought the fucking thing. It is absurdly shit, without a doubt the dumbest A.I. I have experienced on current Gen consoles. The graphics horrible, the combat slow, the missions boring but the one thing that really annoyed was the A.I. I even went onto hardcore mode after the first mission thinking it may improve the A.I. but alas I was too hopeful. Ooo what is this, my team mate has been shot and is injured, I know, I'll ask the medic of the team to heal the injured comrade. Luckily no more hostile folks were around at this point because the injured man had some mental defect that led him to believe the medic was going to hunt him down and cut him before cannibalising his still alive body. He never moved so fast, he just sprinted away from the medic causing the medic to chase him down before he gave in next to a tree a good 150m away. I thought maybe just a one off event, nope 6 times! Oh and a little advise, avoid letting team mates drive a car, even if you give directions via the map, they are even worse at driving than myself, if I was asleep and drunk. The two things your team can do with confidence, "Follow me" & "suppressing fire", the latter of which they take a shine too as they do rack up some kills even though I'm not wanting or expecting kills from suppressing fire just a distraction to cover my movements. Oh and it wasn't the difficulty before any of you fans curse my skill, I love hard games but this is not hard, just has broken A.I. and boring game play and terrible graphics.

Needless to say I traded operation flashpoint in the day after (which happened to be the release date for Uncharted 2) and needless to say I went ahead and bought a game which I can safely say is a great game.

Btw to anyone who puts yes on the poll feel free to tell me what's wrong with my view, or tell me why you honestly like it and aren't defending it for fan boy or elitist reasoning

OP: I'm close to your opinion. I expected a God-like game, what with all the flak being thrown up by other people. I was disappointed.
I don't hate it, and it can still be fun. but It's not as good as what I hoped, and I wasn't hoping for too much.
but it can be fun with a friend and friendly fire turned on.
hehehe, knifed him in the face for trying to heal me after shooting me in the chest :D

Huh.
And here I didn't/don't have any of these problems.
My squad mates did what I told them, they healed each other fine, and worked well.

The graphics certainly don't 'suck', though they aren't the greatest.
And the fact that you said the 'combat was slow' makes me think you bought this thinking it was an open-world Call of Duty style game.
Wrong wrong wrong.

I did, and do, enjoy the game.
It's not perfect, but it's fun for me!
Especially Coop!

I will agree. I played it in a co-op group of three last night and it is indeed quite terrible, but oftentimes in a godawful amusing way.

Hmm... I liked the original operation flashpoint much much more, but I still thought OFP 2 was a pretty good game.

Graphics: Were fairly nice IMHO... they weren't terrible at least.

Friendly AI: This one, I've had some problems with... I've also had the problem with the medic being non-resposive. I got injured, called for the medic, but he didn't come to me... instead I slowly bled to death. =/

Enemy AI: Can't complain about it. They try to flank me, they don't run straight towards me and they don't stick their heads out from cover much more then they have to.

Missions: They feel ok and fairly realistic... I just wish there was some way I could play on Hardcore without having to replay the ENTIRE mission everytime I die.... I don't want any help finding my objectives or any help with my aim... but I really, really hate it when I have to play the same section again and again.

No I knew it style game, but the combat is really slow and that mixed with the other factors mean its boring gun fights which consist of, spotting an enemy, dropping to floor telling squad mates to try and shoot him and then doing single shots with an assault rifle on single shot with a scope lacking in range. And the thing was with my problems they weren't isolated one off's. And the graphics, I never said "suck" so I don't know where that quote came from but when compared with any full feature disc based current gen games that i own including launch titles, the graphics are poor end of.

Please don't think I am just saying your wrong, You are entitled to your view but I'm giving my answers to my criticism

Tbh I didnt have a problem with enemy A.I. they saw me at range, dropped did a sideways crawl to cover and shot at me. They did their job, it was the team A.I. that ruined the game for me. And on the graphics front as im seeing people say they weren't bad, I'm a tad bit of a graphics whore, they are never the thing that decides whether a game is good or bad but when comparing the graphics of this to anything i own on ps3 let alone uncharted 2 or killzone 2, it falls short.

Operation Battlefield 2 is bad and should feel bad. The AI is downright horrible, especially squad AI. They're like robots. The weapons aren't authentic or realistic at all, the sounds suck, the save system is absolutely horrible (OK I get it, you want it to be realistic, but come on, spending 40 minutes doing the mission PERFECTLY shouldn't be broken by one enemy glitching and shooting you from under the map). If you want a realistic war sim, get ArmA 2.

I recall the first Operation flashpoint being absolutely brilliant. I got OFP2 because of that. They actually made the AI worse. Graphics can't be expected to be good in an OFP-typ thing, but yes, OFP 2 is terrible. I do expect the Multiplayer to be good if you play alongside some good players. Otherwise it'll suck to.

I'll just say OFP2 is bad. Graphics had nothing to do with it, gameplay is great (in theory), but the friendly AI fucks EVERYTHING up. The AI alone destroyed that game completely.

EDIT:
I'll go ahead and recommend the original OFP over both Arma 2 and OFP2. Also ARMA 2 over OFP2.

I will say that I expected more than what I got with this game, but I play it with my friend who's on another country at the moment and we have a lot of fun messing around. Certainly not as good as it could have been but oh well, what can you do.

I do not agree with the majority here. However I do agree with Baby Tea. This game is fantastic. The graphics are fine(I'm playing on a 5 year old glass screen T.V), the team AI haven't done anything wrong as yet. My only niggles are:

.The difficulty, even on normal(the lowest setting) I cannot get past the end of level 3 by myself. Even when I was with two friends we struggled.

.The weird mission system. Even though I got past mission 3 with my friends, it still says that my solo campaign is on that level. Even the single missions, which allow you to play the separate missions when you unlock them, says that I'm on level 4. That pisses me off.

But overall, I'm enjoying it, even if the infrastructure is tedious and slightly broken.

Wow, i think you need to chill. I acually like the game, alot. Sure it has some flaws, the Ai isnt the best i grant you that but you just werent directing them right. If you want the medic to heal a guy you have to say to the whole team, move to x location. If you dont then your team will always stay in formation, not allowing the medic to heal the guy.

And i dont see why everyone hates the graphics so much, i acually like them alot, sure the grass may be 2d up close but if you acually concentrate on the battle not the grass under your feet then it looks real. And for anyone saying that you can't see the enemies clearly, well too bad thats real life, and the long standoff ranges, also real life. This is a realistic game not some oh ill kill you at two feet one like CoD.

Also if you want a correction to the AI go online, sure some guys are dumb but atleast you can tell them what their doing wrong. I just think you need to chill and give the thinga better chance, or just not listen to hype, thats what i did and im pleasantly suprised.

I suppose its ok if you never played the original.

But if you were like me expecting a true sequel to OFP it sucked balls.

I would get ARMA 2 but my system can't run that beast.

Why would you make this a poll? Your stating your opinion it shouldn't require a poll if people were to dispute it?

Does IGN have polls on their reviews?? Does OXM? Does Pc gamer?? No

It is just a battle of wills between for and against.Polls define losers and winners and that is not the point of a review

Well well well, I put the poll on their so I could see what kinda views on the game other people had believe it or not. Is it that much of a secret code, you use polls to find the fucking VIEWS OF PEOPLE you god damn monkey fucking son of a whore. Yes I gave my view, but I don't want to just preach I want to understand others as well. Hence why I said if you put yes on the poll please say why you like it. Maybe I did have the wrong view of how to play the game but no you go on be a complete and utter piece of excrement, GTFO my thread *****
