My PS3 recently started to ask me to kill it up by showing the error code "80010514" while trying to load disks. My problem is that sometimes it will allow me to play, other times it will not. I've looked it up and for many people it constantly wouldn't allow them to play a disk. I would blow it off if it wasn't doing it more frequently and causing it to freeze while simply signing in.

Anybody have this happen or heard of it? I think it's dying and all I'm seeing is it's last few breaths.

i had this exact same problem and im afraid your gonna have to fork out some cash to fix it(not too much) its basically a problem with the blue ray laser, i bought a new laser from japan for £40 and got a friend who knows what hes doing to replace it free of charge and now my ps3 is as good as new. you could buy a new ps3 thought but youll loose save files and a lot more money.

Unless you swap the drives if you go from PS3 to PS3. It's not that hard to do, and with the OS already installed, it makes life a bit more bearable.

You could swap the memory drives around but that would be the more expensive alternative because you'd need a new PS3, unless you could find it for dirt cheap somewhere.

Apparently it's a firmware problem. That with a combination of timing and luck, you can try to bounce between homebrew and official Firmware, which will hopefully resolve your issue.
