This is the greatest thing Portal related I've ever heard in my life.gibboss28 said:Huh...You know I think I've realised something
If I was to base my enjoyment and opinion of a game on the fans and if this topic is any indication, Portal 2 would be the biggest pile of shit to ever grace my hard drive.

OT: I'm not getting either of them but if I was it would be Mortal Kombat simply because I hated Portal and well, everything Valve has ever produced. I doubt Portal 2 would be any different than any other time I tried a Valve game.

Even though it's release has been tainted.
Mortal Kombat is still a big series though. I think it's safe to call them both Popular. You certainly can't call either "niche".Ultratwinkie said:Portal two has sold over 4 million without steam (which outnumbers XBL and PSN). Mortal Kombat hasn't released much news so it must not have sold very much.Katana314 said:Pretentious-Man....AWAY!! Congratulations. You are claiming your popular game is more mature than another. What does it feel like to be the new Halo / CoD fan?PhiMed said:While there's nothing wrong with MK, it's certainly not the "thinking person's game" Portal is, so I was a little disappointed. This was compounded when I struck up a conversation with a guy in line.
Anyway, I don't care about either, but I'd be kind of surprised if after all that ARG stuff and advertising everywhere, Portal 2 falls behind MK. I mean, MK has definitely existed longer, but I didn't think there was still so big of a fanbase for it.
You misunderstand. I'm not saying either is more popular than the other. I'm just saying the adjective "popular" fits both of them. Saying Portal 2 sold more doesn't really say or mean anything.Ultratwinkie said:http://www.vgchartz.com/article/85666/americas-preorders-chart-16-april-2011-mortal-kombat-portal-2/Katana314 said:Mortal Kombat is still a big series though. Portal 2 was pretty close to MK in terms of pre orders on consoles. It doesn't count the PC. If you bring steam into the mix, portal 2 had more of a following than Mk.
wha.... the graphics... and the... never heard of... and the.... IS HE FROM THE FUCKING TWILIGHT ZONE? SERIOUSLY, WHAT THE FUCK IS HE?PhiMed said:Me: "What are you here to get?"
Guy: "Mortal Kombat, same as everybody else.
Me: "Oh. I'm actually here to get Portal 2."
Guy: "What's that?"
Me: "Here." (showing him the box from a display) "The original was pretty awesome."
Guy: "Never heard of it."
Me: "It won several game of the year awards."
Guy: (regarding box) "Oh. Looks weird. And the graphics look old."
Now, it's entirely possible that he could've been messing with me, but I don't think he was. Here was a guy, involved enough in gaming to show up at a midnight release on a Monday night, who had never heard of the game Portal. Is it just me, or is this bizarre?
And, additionally, which game were you most excited about? Am I a starry-eyed idealist for thinking that Portal 2 is the more widely-anticipated game?
