Poll: Never Played Counter Strike

overall its a good game loads of game modes and other shite like that but then you have the "leet" gamers who play the game for 15 hours a day which totally fucks the game balance up completely so the first server you go on your getting owned

i would love to see yahtzee do a review of C:SS

I played it in class...God I'll miss Tech drawing/graphics. I didn't think it was that great honestly, there was 3 levels that we played and by the third lesson I hated the damn game. Still had my TD games so It was all good.

I still play CSS whenever our clan (beans and milk, which is just made up of real-life friends) gets bored of Left 4 Dead. We fire it up and battle it out on Dust2. We usually play BF2142 though.

Played it a few times. Couldn't get used to the playerbase, coupled with the repetitiveness of map cycles (basically, 3/4 times it was Dust) and the weapons. I prefer the Call of Duty or Team Fortress 2 multiplayer, probably for the fact there's more of a margin for error (eg: one death doesn't keep you out of a whole round).

I used to play 1.6 almost every day with my friends from school when I was 13-15 and it was a good bit of fun either in LAN a cafe or online at home with web chat. We had a clan and stuff which wasn't too bad, met some friends through it too.

I got Source when it came out but I could never really be bothered getting back into it. I still play it when I want a break from TF2 or console FPS games.

I played counter strike years ago. It was a great game at the time, but now it's gone from skill to a typical example of the "spray and pray" and people who say things like 'i hack j00' and holds no appeal to me anymore

To continue the offtopic'ness of this thread. Css is a good game. When people hate it pretty much of the bat, its either because they don't like these type of games in general..or because they was owned. There will ALWAYS be people who play more than you and are better than you at any game (Unless you're the world champ..If thats the case, congrats to you!), So bashing a game for it really doesn't work. Neither is it saying that too many people hack. Usually, its because of the above stated, "someone" have been playing for 27 hours a day and can one-shot you before you can even see him. During my time in css, I have only ever seen 3 hackers. (Played it since it came out..altough not in one go, obviously. I do have a life..I think..maybe..probably not).

Go in with source, and go in with a friend. And keep that mic switched off. And learn the buttons to votekick in advance.

Counter-Strike is fun in small doses. Until you find one of the 10 million hackers around. Then it isn't fun at all. I swear VAC doesn't work.

I got the original one when it came out and played it a few times. It was all right, but at the time I was more into objective based games. Looking back on it now though, I can see why a lot of people liked it.

i voted for ruined it because i definitely never want to play it. ive learned enough from other escapists and concerned (a hilarious webcomic which had a whole story arc about it) that im convinced i will never play. speaking of webcomics, ive thought of doing one myself (dont hold your breath for it, ive got a load of problems with it at this point, mainly that my scanner sucks), and it wont be video game specific but heres the "script" for a counterstrike parody:

strip title: crossfire (individual strip not the whole comic)

player 2: u suk

player 3 (only one played by a main character, others are extras): does anyone here speak english?

the structure of this comic reminds me of vg cats, but i came up with this idea myself based on my observations, so i guess its legit.

I still don't understand the hit detection/bullet spread in CS. Is it trying to be realistic? Because I normally can't run and gun in the game. But then with certain guns like the P90, it's the only way to play.

The game just doesn't make much sense to me. Sure, it's tactical, but with only about 4 different routes to go per map, just how tactical can it get?
