Poll: New captcha is TERRIBLE

There is a new captcha by solvemedia that means I have to watch an advertisement video whenever I want to post. I understand banner ads fine, and video ads, but when I am forced to wait to post a piece of text on the internet things have gone to far.

Like how I seem to have to do one EVERY SINGLE TIME I post here (or it at least feels like it.)

I wasn't a bot yesterday, I wasn't a bot the day before, I wasn't a bot three weeks ago, I wasn't a bot a year ago, I wasn't a bot when I solved the first little captcha to sign up in the first place, and I'm certainly not today. How many times do I have to prove I'm not a robot before they'll just.....believe me?

You could hit the play button before you start typing so you don't even have to see it through its duration. Maybe ads just don't bother me as much, although I do race for the mute button when I hear "Thooose are right here...".

I hate it, but they need a source of income and if forcing us to watch advertisements does that for them then I'm fine with them doing it.

I'm a pub club member, so I've not seen this. But having to watch an ad before I post? That is pretty shitty. Pretty much every other kind of advertising I've seen/heard of is defensible, but making posting that much more tedious and annoying seems like it would just drive more people away.

Yes we did, and at points it was taxing the mods to keep up with banning the accounts and deleting the threads. Probably why you didn't notice them, the mods where on top of that shit.

I've heard a lot of people ***** about those captcha's, but I've never had one. I've got the occasional "regular" one (the two words), but never a video.

I guess I'm special.

the only reason the site uses captcha is to get people to become publishers club members, other wise they wouldnt make you deal with the stupid things if you had over a certain number of posts

I never get the video ads. Weird. Not that i'm complaining. I get that the escapist needs money, but this is just ridiculous. How much money does the escapist have now anyways? Do they need that much more? How much do they spend? What's their income to expense ratio? I have to know why this crap is necessary.

I don't have them, and no, not because of the pub club. I have and continue to see the same ol one they are using. Like I said, they just keep trying out the other captcha system as there are problems with them all and they are trying to settle on the best one.

Hey, if the words are in a video, awesome. That means less people posting their images going "what is this" all the time. Yes, we got that captchas have weird characters sometimes the first time someone did it. We don't need you to remind us every page of every thread by posting yours. You constantly posting your captcha images is as annoying to everyone who has to see you post them is as annoying to you as having captchas in the first place.

So video captchas sound great to me, as they'll kill two kinds of spam at once: no more spam bots and no more spam "my captcha gave me something weird!" posts.
