Poll: New captcha is TERRIBLE

You know, I was like "I'm done with the Escapist because of this" because I'd rather just give them money.

Then I remembered that "Publisher's Club" ad and although it's not a title that would lead one to think so, I wondered "does that include no advertisements?".

Sure enough, it does kill the ads, and for 20 bucks a year. The rest of the badge and privilege rubbish they can keep, I don't have a problem giving them that little bit for all the videos I watch on here.

Ugh, yeah, I hated these. Look, if its because people hate the old one, just give us the option to pick which one we're going to use. Not that its needed, no escapist, i'm not a spam bot. I proved it 10 posts ago, and 20 posts ago, and yesterday, etc.

if this wasnt just about money then they would have capped the captcha once you reach like 500 or so posts, meaning they would just turn it off since by that point its rather obvious your not just a spam bot

Ironically, today I was thinking that it's ridiculous I watching an Ad in front of a movie trailer which is, basically, an ad for a movie.

It is annoying, The previous system was much better.
As I tend to 'burst post' (i.e posting in several threads in a short time period) it crops up more often than I'd want it to.

The other problem, and I cant stress this enough, is that this site is a gaming culture site. If I have to watch 10seconds of an advert before I can skip it why is the advert not something related to gaming instead of a kitchen cleaner?

The only remotely good thing about the Captchas here is that they at least don't look like the ones YouTube uses, that are all crooked and bent so I have to reload 6 fucking times over to even get an image I can decipher.

Although that doesn't change the fact that Captcha's here seem to pop up every second or third message I post, and really, when did spambots start invading The Escapist?

OT: I haven't seen one yet, but, seriously, there are better ways to advertise that don't evoke so much justified anger and hate.

At least it gives intersting things to talk about.
For example, the captcha for my favourite food thread was 'all you can eat'
I found that nice.
But the worse thing is that it seems like i have to watch the adverts longer and longer until the skip button comes up.

Every captcha system on this site is rubbish.

I don't fully understand it as we never seemed to get spambots before the damned captcha things anyway.

Yes we did, and at points it was taxing the mods to keep up with banning the accounts and deleting the threads. Probably why you didn't notice them, the mods where on top of that shit.

And now we have demented captchas with advertisements to block out spambots, instead.

I have no idea what you guys are talking about or even what a captcha is. I'm in the Pub Club. I've always been able to post without any problems. I'm starting to think that perhaps this was a new system implemented for free users? Sounds pretty stupid to me.

It's like you're speaking a completely different language.

Then again, complaining about how the site is run probably isn't the best idea. You're here, aren't you? Nobody is forcing you to be.

I use ad-block plus so I didn't see any video, I just registered too and the code I got for proving my account was authentic was carpe diem. Unfortunately this instantly made me a fan of it.
