Escapist goes Nomnomnom. No poll for you

So I just saw a trailer for the new movie called Snow White and the Huntsman which I present to you here.

For those of you not wanting to watch the above video I copy and pasted the synopsis from the video description.
In the epic action-adventure Snow White and the Huntsman, Kristen Stewart (Twilight) plays the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen (Oscar(r) winner Charlize Theron) out to destroy her. But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the young woman threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth, Thor) dispatched to kill her. Sam Claflin (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) joins the cast as the prince long enchanted by Snow White's beauty and power. The breathtaking new vision of the legendary tale is from Joe Roth, the producer of Alice in Wonderland, producer Sam Mercer (The Sixth Sense) and acclaimed commercial director and state-of-the-art visualist Rupert Sanders.
Snow White was probably one of the major disney movies of my early childhood. Later on in my life it became one of my top Brothers Grimm tales. But yet I am torn between waiting for more information and just screaming "What the [Pages of Explicitives] is this?!?!?!"

Why am I torn? Well, I am fine with an adaptation. I am fine with the scenes of Snow White clad in armor fighting in a grand battle. I am even fine with the casting of Kristen Stewart as Snow White. Hell, before the "fairest of them all line" I was looking forward to seeing the rest. Yet something about this trailer causes me to release a rage that easily surpasses any other movie related.

Most likely its the fact that one of my favorite stories from my childhood is being adapted into what appears to be a Twilight style cash in, though that may be just because Kristen Stewart is attached to the project but it is worth noting that so is Chris Hemsworth (AKA: Thor). I actually like most of the names that are attached to the project and am indifferent about the other names. Hence my confusion.

So what do you think about this? Cash in, good or bad, thoughts you post them!

EDIT: Looked up the Wikipedia and IMDb page for the movie out of curiosity. Yes there will be 7 dwarves, all named after Roman emperors, The actors all look pretty good. One of them is Toby Jones who played the dream lord from Dr. Who and also voiced Dobby in harry potter.

Oh yea, its also there is word that it is planned to be part of a Trilogy.

Before clicking, I wondered if this was going to be another angsty twilight-esque retelling.

Then I saw they even got the girl from Twilight....

My nostalgic me says no, I say I don't care.

But where' the poll?
The Poll died valiantly protecting its family. Meaning of course that the Escapist ate it.

Saw this yesterday.

Charlize Theron. Kristen Stewart. Chris Hemsworth.

I'm in.

Once it hits DVD.

I don't really see the Twilight comparison at all, in either artistic style or narrative structure.

If anything, I see more of a link to the producer's work in Alice in Wonderland. The original story is pretty thin, plot wise. So to pad out the film, they're inserting a forcefully epic fantasy battle.

Theron's character could be interesting.

I hate this, its becoming cliche. The syfy channel basically makes one of these every week.
What if (blank) wasnt a damsel but a badass knight that kicks ass, we'll add some new twist, new metaphor theme metaphor that totally loses point of original story, movie.

If its anything like tim burtons alice in wonderland, it'll blow.......but at least look nice(maybe).

seriously, Tim Burtons Alice in wonderland was the most boring flat (and not just the main actress performance)movie I ever saw. The real world at the end when she takes over her fathers business and tries to make trade with china was the most interesting part. Wonderland never felt so bland. I felt so bad for johnny depp and burtons wife and I dont even really like them.

This news makes me cringe. Why would they take a beloved Disney movie (based from a fairy tale I'm told) and Twilight it up?

At first I was like "Hmm this could be cool."

But then I was like "Oh god Stewart is way too ugly to play Snow White." She can't hold a candle to the queen. Notice how she doesn't talk in the trailer though. Maybe that's a good sign that she won't talk much in the movie!

Can someone point out the similarities to Twilight for me?...

I really just don't see it. All I see is one actress who was from Twilight in a totally different film.

Actually, you're right, it doesn't really look like Twilight but it still doesn't really look like Snow White. It kind of looks like Lord of the Rings. I'm not sure if that is a good thing or not. I guess I don't want to see a classic story get mixed up with another.

I'm morbidly intrigued. On one hand, I think it'll probably suck overall, but on the other hand, it looks interesting enough to warrant a full look. Maybe I'm just a sucker for atypical teleportation (especially the "shatter into animals" type).

I think it actually looks pretty good and don't see any connection to Twilight at all outside of Kristen Stewart. *shrug*

This is good. It's a chance for Kristen Stewart to show people that she is actually a pretty decent actress, when she's in less shit things. Anyone seen any of her earlier movies? Some of those were pretty cool.

I was about to say...peopel should really stop hating on her JUST because she was in twilight

if this is good (I have my doubts..but optimism) then hopefully she can shake off the stigma

I'll drink to that! The premise, while sorta original and at first slightly intriguing, just has one flaw for me.And it's a BIG MOTHEREFFIN kind of a flaw.

This may seem like hating on the poor girl, but the fact is,she acted in twilight. Now I'm supposed to watch this fantasy movie where a single character is a badass knight AND officially proclaimed the most beautiful girl in the world (notice where the difficulty begins...)?
And then that same character is played by...yeah.

That character is a hard to swallow for me even just by looking at it's shell, and it would be hard to pull it off (again, for me) even for some much higher profile actresses with a wrong background.I just don't see this movie and me relating.

There's a reason why a lot of top actors carefully choose their parts accordingly what they want their audience to relate to when they see them on the screen.Just sayin...

Wow, even when Kristen Stewart is fleeing in terror, she still has the one facial expression.
I don't think I could put up with her stupid fucking face the whole movie, so I probably won't be seeing it.
However, there's apparently another Snow White movie out next year.

I think I'll wait for that one. I don't recognise the actors, so I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised.
