Three reasons to watch this movie...

1. Charlize Theron (who is by definition hotter than Kristen Stewart).

2. Chris Hemsworth looks to be a really likeable (as ever) character.

3, It's not often you get reasons to root for the bad guys in a film without feeling slightly bad. I hope The huntsman embeds his axe deep into her skull...

This. If Theron can make the villain character compelling and interesting, the movie should be okay. I don't expect any of the rest of the cast to be able to pull anything interesting off, so it's down to her really.

I don't really see the Twilight comparison at all, in either artistic style or narrative structure.

If anything, I see more of a link to the producer's work in Alice in Wonderland. The original story is pretty thin, plot wise. So to pad out the film, they're inserting a forcefully epic fantasy battle.

Theron's character could be interesting.
I think the Twilight comparison is from using the lead actress from the Twilight movies, considering Kristen Stewart is currently about as typecasted as Maureen O'Hara, her role in this movie could only be for one thing: to cash in on the Twihards.

That and that they've changed the story so it's now primarily a romance between Snow White and the Huntsman. (who was otherwise a completely unimportant character in the traditional Snow White story, in fact in most renditions he was killed by the queen at the end of the opening scenes.)

Also no sign of Dwarves! Come on people, Warwick Davis has to earn his keep somehow.

Apart from that this film actually looks really good, although I wouldn't call Kristen Stewart 'The fairest in the land'. She's very pretty, but in that armour she looks more Joan of Arc than Arwen.

Okay, now someone was complaining about air ships and a female ninja in the upcoming Three musketeers movie, and I didnt see anything wrong with it. Afterall, there were atleast a dozen movies out there, and its always been a grand adventure type of story.

But I didnt watch the trailer above, I simply read the synopsis, and nearly threw up.

THIS IS NOT SNOW WHITE, THIS IS SOME MOVIE WITH A WORRIER CHICK WITH A NAME THAT HAPPENS TO BE SNOW WHITE!!!

So Im writing this shit off without much more thought...

They have to have this playing somewhere in the film.

I dunno, I think the collecting youth thing is a rather interesting spin on the story. I mean, all things considered, jealousy isn't exactly the most solid motivation for outright murdering people if you're in a high and respected position. But taking their youth and beauty to remain in power...that's a more tangible and sensical reason for tracking down beautiful women. And what could be more threatening to her than one who is younger and more beautiful?

I'm not so sure about Kristen Stewart, though. Maybe Snow White will be a good opportunity to try out a larger emotional range. She certainly isn't short on critics telling her that's what she needs to do, so we'll see if she actually takes any of that to heart. I'll give her one last chance, in this movie.

It'd be awesome if they have the dwarves in heavy armor & warhammers walking down the battlefield, casually whistling/singing this tune while bashing enemies in the face.

XD

Awesome.

Can you point to anything specific that hints at a romance between the Huntsman and Snow White? The only person she's shown kissing in the trailer is clearly not Chris Hemsworth (The Huntsman), and is presumably Prince Charming.

They turned the Huntsman character into a less two-dimensional character, that's it. He's no longer a(n) (dis)obedient kill machine. Any romance you see between the Huntsman and Snow White from this trailer is thoroughly in your own head, conjured from your heavy biases.

Saw the ad and was unsure what to think, seemed bland to me. I also have issues with who they chose the play lady white. I understand why they choose her and it is not a bad reason, but I do not connect with her. So I spend the whole film a third wheel constantly pulled out of the movie only to be reminded that it is a movie.

Saw this yesterday.

Charlize Theron. Kristen Stewart. Chris Hemsworth.

I'm in.

Once it hits DVD.
PM me your thoughts after you watch it so that I know if it is safe for my immature mind?

Hold on. I looked up the IMDb and Wikipedia page. There will be 7 dwarfs and the actors playing them are pretty good too. Includes the Dream Lord from Doctor Who, Beowulf, Ed from Shaun of the Dead, and Blackbeard from PotC: On stranger tides. Also there is Mario from a movie that most geeks are well aware of but refuse to acknowledge.

Despite my initial knee jerk reaction to this I think I am going to wait for more information before I decide to hate it. Aside from the reputation that Stewart brings with her there isn't really much I actually hate about this. I think this is mostly timing, there have been quite a few remakes of classic stories lately that try and cash in on the success of Twilight, Red Riding Hood standing out the most. This movie could go either way. On the one hand they have Stewart, who will bring in the twilight fans. On the other they have a large number of really good actors who could probably hold this film up on their own.

The concept intrigues me. The only off-putting thing is Kristen Stewart. But the other actors are good enough to interest me. I may see it, and give Stewart a chance. Heck if I get half naked Chris Hemsworth again I'll be happy.

All I have to say is "Spieglein, Spieglein, an der Wand. Wer ist die Schönste im ganzen Land?"

...I dislike the Disney version of the story, and I wish this movie would be closer to the first version of the tale by the brothers Grimm. I doubt they'd ever go so far as to have Snow White's biological mother order the huntsman to take her seven year old daughter out in the woods and butcher her, bringing back her lungs and liver... No matter what they actually do with this story, it will never match the dark epic of the original tale. From the look of things, they're removing the attempted kinslaying aspect altogether. More's the pity.

I hope the dwarfs do have a major part in the film, the trailer seemed to be one of those bad fairy tale re writes, and it seems to be a recent trend to make a fairy tale film and insert some poorly written romance. The trailer appeared to me that it's sticking to a formula we've all seen before.

The poorly developed romance is part of the story. You can't have Snow White without Prince Charming Harry.

Am I the only a bit weirded out by the fact that apparently all of the dwarves are played by British actors? Most of them with very obvious British accents...

Right, so when we're not the bad guys we're the dwarves. Okay then.
