So the next load of consoles are coming out soon, and we will all have to pay £300/$400 so we can see more dents on grey walls! As you may have guessed I don't think graphics/engine make the game the story does, but different things for different people. So which of the new consoles will you guys get?

I am sort of sick of putting up with Microsoft's crap, like paying for online services and not having enough Jrpg's. And after looking at the list of xbox and ps3 exclusives I realised the only exclusives I actually like are Gears of war (which is over) and Halo (which I think has shown me all it can offer). So if it was down to me I would jump ship to Sony, sadly my friends have appalling taste in video games and think that the PS4 has nothing interesting. I tried to direct them to this as an example of exciting ps4 stuff, but some just cant't be saved I guess, http://www.gameinformer.com/p/thief.aspx so I may end up getting another sbox so I can play with my friends.

Sorry if there have been similar threads I couldn't find any after a quick look. If you are wondering where the smug "my PC is better and I already have it" option, I'm sure there are PC threads for that.

Like most of these discussions, I could not tell you right now because there is only one thing that I care about: Games.

Until the system is actually out and we see what games we're getting, I have no vote. There are a ton of rumors going on but I pay no attention to them because rumors mean nothing to me; I will wait for the facts to come out (like always online, Kinect support, etc.)

However...gun to my head and you told me I HAD to choose one or you would murder me (so pushy!)...

I purchased the PS2 first last generation. I purchased the 360 first this generation. However, Sony has been doing a lot to impress me lately. The PS+ program is a God damn steal and there is virtually no reason I see that I should have to continue paying for Xbox Live. I much prefer the 360 controller over my PS3 controller but I would be willing to adjust if it came down to it.

If I'm going to go anywhere (and I've got hella backlog), it's going to be the WiiU; though the only thing I'm excited about so far is Bayonetta 2 (also, I really hope they don't just call it 'Bayonetta 2').

If they can make classic Gamecube games available on the virtual console, then I'll be sold even more. I 'unno, I suppose only time will tell, and then again the WiiU is the only one we really have all the details for.

I, too, am sick of Microsoft's bullshit, and do fear for my purchased DLC once they decide to abandon the 360...

Good Man

That is exactly what everyone should care about. None of the graphics, loading times or performance speed bullshit.
All that matters is the games and as you said Sony are delivering more in that department. If I want to operate my console via my fridge via my oven via my phone, then I'll talk to microsoft.

I really want Bayonetta 2 as well but like you its the only interesting wii u game out there for me right now. I will probably get a Wii U somewhere down the line (2-3 years), but only when the next Zelda game comes out, with some decent Japanese Wii U exclusives to back it up.

I don't really do DLC I've just never believed in it, I like to have physical copies of what I spend money on. I have downloaded a grand total of 3 things, usually I wait for the game of the year addition.

Currently i have no desire to buy a 8th Gen console because the only game i was willing to buy a next-gen console for, MGS:Rising, came out on my good ol´ PS3, and im gonna go pick it up next week.

I can say in advance that i have no desire to buy a 720 due to the business practices ive heard surrounding it, along with the fact that i don´t want to pay for any online features, something i feel should be free.

Sony needs to pull some seriously awesome shit to make me go 8th Gen instead of using that money on a new PC.

That sounds to me probably a little more judgemental than you meant it to sound, but whatever, that's not the point.

Most of the time it's been that I've owned the game when the DLC that I've wanted to play has come out - RDR's Undead Nightmare, all the Fallout 3 expansions, the extra story modes for RE5, the extra campaigns in Left 4 Dead 2, not to mention quite a few XBLA titles and some extra expansions for such.

I've got an old-style 360, hopefully I'll invest in some extra hard drives, but I'd be pissed if Microsoft decided to pull XBL on the 360, so that I couldn't re-download Iron Brigade, Stacking, Serious Sam, Doom, Darwinia, Toy Soldiers and all of the other things I've bought and enjoyed if something went wrong on the storage devices.

Halo has guided my console gaming for the last 11 years, but 343i has been trying very hard to change that. If Xbox controller muscle memory doesn't seem like a strong enough selling point, I could go in the Sony direction, or maybe pick up some Nintendo if they decide to start selling video games to use with their hardware.

I don't know yet.

I'm a Nintendo/PC guy, that's all there is too it really. I'm definitely going to buy a Wii someday but unless one of the other two manages to get a shit-ton of purely exclusive titles I don't see myself paying them much attention.

Whichever one gets the most exclusive games I'm interested in and, to this point, I haven't seen anything that's convinced me for any of them.

Don't try to sell them on what the PS4 is, sell them on what it isn't. The rumours suggest that the nextbox will be a terrible choice. Of course it could just be a load of BS invented by the Sony marketing team . . .

Proud WiiU owner right here. Sure, there's a dry spell of WiiU Games right now, but by the end of this year/the begining of Next Year, there's going to be a lot of WiiU exclusives, and a lot of games I'll be playing (Specifically the new Mario Game).

I might get a PS4/Nextbox if they offer something interesting down the line; nothing excited me when I watched the PS4 announcement, and we have no official knowledge of the Nextbox. Until then, I will stick with the WiiU (and the 3DS and PC).

Yeah, that's pretty much the direction I'm going in too. The Wii U is going to have all the Nintendo titles I'm interested in, and hopefully this gen it will also get some more support from third parties too. But the computer is what I play on for games that either aren't coming out for Nintendo systems or don't work well on consoles at all, like Elder Scrolls or Civilization. Plus since I'm on my computer all the time anyway its more convenient sometimes to just play PC then take the time to start up a console.

If the 360 goes all online/no used games then my choice would be PS4.
However as to whether or not I get a PS4 depends on the games.

This . Also the price tag . I'm not paying any more than 300$ before taxes for the ps4 .

It's to early to say - depends on the games. And in the case of multiplayer multi-platform games, it'll depend s little on whether I have enough friends adopting one in particular.

Easier to stick to PC (and the last-gen) and just wait and see what happens.

Personally, I don't really like the direction Microsoft is going. So I might skip out on the new XBOX. Key word being might.

I might get a Wii U in the future once Bayonetta 2 and Rayman Origins come out.

As for the PS4? I think I'll wait and see what it has in terms of games to play before I think about making a purchase. And even then, I might wait for a price drop as I'm betting it's going to be very expensive.

If things don't work out, I might have to start thinking about getting myself a gaming PC. Which isn't too bad of an idea. I could finally play stuff like TF2 at a decent framerate. XD
