Both. I use normal for Infamous, inverted for Demon's Souls. Normal for Uncharted, inverted for Gears of War. Normal for Halo, and inverted for Killzone. Normal for Assassin's Creed, and inverted for Batman.
Always used inverted for flight simulators though.
I have no idea why I'm like this. Maybe I'm a monster.

I have a friend that uses inverted for everything. Throws off everybody when controllers are switched.

Hm. Two poll options isn't really enough. With a mouse I use normal, unless I'm flying something. But when I'm forced to use a console controller, inverted feels more natural. Stick controls have sort of a "leaning" thing going on, I think. They operate on a ball rotation, but it's the far side of the ball that.. yeah I dunno that doesn't make sense for turning. "Path dependence."

Depends on the game, really.

I only invert vertical anyway, not horizontal if I'm inverting anything.

Flying games I always play the "push the stick down to pull up" mode, which is inverted, and even in some FPS games this feels good, but other times I want to "push up to aim up" like in most FPS games and such.

Like I said, it's situational. When I'm playing a game with vehicles, especially flying vehicles, (Battlefield, UT, etc.) I'd like to be able to have the camera controls switch to inverted during the time when I'm piloting something.

If given the choice I tend to make Y-inverted and keep X-normal. Just find it easier that way.
Wait, has there ever been a control scheme that inverted X? I just couldn't picture it. Well, maybe lefty-flip in GH/RB.

OT: I'm with the flight sim generation; I play inverted for everything.

Inverted annoys me, probably because I've always used normal, and inverted just feels backwards.

So yes, normal

Normal. Whatever floats your boat, but really, how can, "Up is up, down is down" not be easier? I won't knock it if you like it, but personally, being offered inverted controls is like being offered the option of reading a book all in caps with no punctuation. It just muddles things for absolutely no reason.

For some reason I swapped from normal to inverted, then suddenly back again after several years. I cannot remember or explain the reason why, but it might've had something to do with having inverted controls on a flying game. Nowadays I'm normal on the ground, inverted in the air, as I should be.

I use inverted, all because of Starfox as a kid, although I started off playing that as normal and then for some reason couldn't do it anymore after I tried inverted once...

Actually, that's a very poor choice of an analogy. Rather, inverted controls is more like a manga comic that reads "backwards." A book with no punctuation and all capitals actually greatly affects the sheer mechanics of functionality in comprehension. Inverted controls, just like a manga layout, simply depends on what you're used to.
