*counts to 10*

Hi there, new person! Welcome to the Escapist! =D

As you may, or may not know, one of the Escapist Forum's best hidden secrets is the fabled "Search" function. It's origin is indeed mysterious, but to anyone who finds it, and consequently uses it, will find great treasure indeed! =D

According to the legends, this is what it supposedly looks like.

Happy treasure hunting! =D

Erm, If you mean searching for this a thread thats exactly like this...why should I bother because its most likely old and I want a discussion on it. A thread that noone has posted on for a few weeks isnt going to attract attention :S

Not really, Fallout 3 is pretty much Oblivion only its sci-fi instead of fantasy, only major differences is the V.A.T.S system (the auto aim function) and the control scheme, other than those, it all just felt copy-pasted from Oblivion.

Fallout 3, by a considerable margin.

Oblivion suffered from a lack of RPG elements, dreadful AI, poor and unimmersive quests, and some of the worst voice acting in history.

EDIT: Op if you start a thread on why lobsters haven't been to Mars and come back with the King of the Custard Cream people as a hostage you will get people swearing there is a thread on it and demanding you use the search button. Just don't respond to that kinda thing.

Personally, I find the concept and world that they tried they created with Fallout much more appealing than that of Oblivion. It's a place where the level of realisim that was found in Oblivion is appropriate, and I think that it makes for a more immersive, and interesting atmosphere. However, I don't think that most would deny that Oblivion is the better game, as Bethesda clearly but a much larger amount of work and effort into it. Fallout always felt like there was great potential just behind the surface, which never felt to me as though it was fully realized.

I found Fallout 3 more accessible to people as it does not rely on Swords but GUNS and doesnt feel like your at a Bad Convention...It has flaws but it's much more "fun" than Oblivion

I don't think you will get a big discussion because this is basically a list thread.

User1: "Fallout 3 is better."
User2: "I prefer Oblivion."
User3: "I think both are great games."
....

This topic has already been discussed. A lot.
Everyone knows Fallout 3 is Oblivion, but in the future, can we please move on?

Also, vs. threads, as this comment shows:

If I were in your shoes, I would definitely recommend getting Fallout 3. I highly doubt that you'll be disappointed. I mean, I thought that the game had certain flaws and failings, but I still count it as one of the better games on the market now. In fact, I probably had more fun with it then any of other games that came out this past year. The only game I really enjoyed more in 2008 was Mass Effect, and that didn't come out this last year, I just didn't buy and play it till 08.

Because the thread is old, means it invalidates those opinions? If you just search, you'll come across plenty of Oblivion vs Fallout3 discussions and you'll find the answers you seek.

No, people won't do that, as that's actually an original topic. Maybe I say these things because I have a point?

Oh I know, let's start another 300 "I like this girl!" thread, "Is halo 3 better than halo 2?", etc. Yes, you're right. Don't respond to those kinda things. Instead, heed them.

Oblivion and Fallout 3 are just as bad as each other in my opinion, the main difference is that many of us now acknowledge that Oblivion wasn't great while people still valiantly defend Fallout 3 despite it's faults (some of which carry over from Oblivon).

If you are a die-hard fan of either Oblivion or the Fallout series then by all means get Fallout 3 (as a matter of fact, you probably have already if that is the case), otherwise...ask to borrow someone else's copy first or see if you can rent it.

Both are outstanding games, no doubt about it.

However, my preference is towards Oblivion, it drew me in more, it is the only game besides Age Of Empires 2 to cause me to play for 2 days straight, no sleep.

I had alot fore fun with Oblivion, and eagerly await the fifth installment.

If you post on it people won't know that it's old. People will simply see that the last post was today and then reply to it. Every now and then you'll get some guy saying "WOW OLD POST" but don't worry about him. He's a tard.

ON TOPIC! I liked Oblivion more because I didn't finish the main bit of content in two days. I also liked it more because it never felt like I had any sort of urgency so I felt free to explore the world. While the sense of urgency is a good thing in Fallout 3, the length of the main quest made that urgency horrible.
