I listen, I read, I write, I feel, I breathe music.

To the point where whatever terrible song you think the band wrote to only apply to you and your relationship I could tear down limb from limb with musical jargon that will make me never appreciate it because it follows this progression with that melody over this key.

If you even listen to the wasteland that is American radio, I will smile and nod in your car when you say you like the song, but in my mind, I'm killing you, choking you, hating you for buying into the garbage that's marketed at your demographic.

If you hate a song because of its genre, or hate a song because a certain band made it, I will write you off in my mind as someone to never talk to about music with.

My tastes range from everything to anything, from Dire Straits to Cage, whose album my brother came home with (signed by Cage himself!) yesterday. Yes, the vinyl.

Check out the album art, it's pretty cool.

Anyway, yeah. Rap to Rock, Psychedelic Trance to Industrial Metal, I got it all and I love it all, and I get into songs, I have plenty I haven't heard yet since I haven't given 'em a fair shot, but hey - if I can listen to the soundtrack from Braid 20, 30, 40 times and notice a different thing about the songs and their composition when I do, in addition to just loving the mood, the setting, the story told with nothing but instruments...

Nothing wrong with loving some brilliant line, or some catchy riff at all. And I wish I could just stop analyzing everything and just listen to things, but my mind, my mind is always on, and I can't
turn
it
off.

So, I play guitar, and keyboard, used to care about singing, and I compose music using FL Studio and Acid Pro, mostly variations of Electronica and House but it depends on the day, you know?

I don't plan on releasing anything because of how the music industry just is, but to make it easy to understand, music is an amazing thing.

And I don't see other animals doing all that much of it.

Other: Don't care if there's music around or not, it's all background noise to me.

Other: I don't listen to music all that much. I mostly listen to music that I associate with something good (films, video games, etc.), it's like a side dish of sorts.

Listen to it when I'm in the car or something :) but when I'm on this its usually the TV or whatever game I stick on that I hear :D mostly because music annoys me when I'm trying to focus on a game >.>

Music is amazing, I'm ridiculously obsessed with it. I've made 2 threads pertaining to music and in one of them I did a review of an entire opera. I should have studied music more and became a conductor or something. At least be in a jazz ensemble.

Music is fantastic. I would explain why I love it so, but I am at a loss for words.

I guess it's a way of expressing yourself, even if you only listen to it. Myself, being somewhat of a multi-talent when it comes to music, I've found that creating music that means something to you personally is quite terapeutic, which is why you'll find so many songs by well-known bands that make no sense until you learn the story behind it. Ocean Soul by Nightwish, for example.

My level of involvement in music depends on what I'm doing (Duh)
If I'm alone and driving, I can get into it a bit more. Right now, I've got some music on, but I'm not really paying any attention to it.
And it's not that big a part of me. I like it, but I don't think I need it.

I listen to music a lot, and love it, but I usually leave in the background while doing something else.

One of the places where I only listen to music would be on a bus.

I CAN NOT go without music. I always have it going hence the enormous size of my music library. Once you go far enough underground, you're gonna find bands nobody has ever heard of and learn you love them.

I just can't stop...
haha i'm prolly a bit selfish but i hate it when my favorite bands go mainstream
I know what you mean. It usually messes with the sound. I know of bands that have been around for a while and are probably NEVER going mainstream =D
Agreed.

Other. For me it varies. If I'm determined, I will listen to loads of music, but other times I could last the whole day with even looking at a music channel for influence. Sometimes I have it in the background, other times I listen to it for the sake of listening to it. I even write and play music sometimes.

I can be a determined muso or a person looking for some noise to fill in the background. I could analyze a whole album, find the meaning in the lyrics, find the tonality, any cadences in the music, any specific rhythms, instruments, effects. However, I can go by without even noticing it's playing.

Like I said. It varies.
