Boston, Seattle and several other cities. And there is a huge media blackout over this. Plus there's strong evidence suggesting that either the DoD or a private security company is attempting to infiltrate message boards all over the internet in an effort to paint the protesters as hippies, hipsters and lazy selfish people.

And I seriously wish I were making this up. Prepare your anus america.

Our Government has really been fucking up as of the past few years.

Seriously, I'm rather concerned that we may in fact be the next big "bad guy" of the countries out there.

Blatant disregard of the citizens rights, and the police are becoming to dichotomized from the rest of the country. It's beginning to bug me.

How can there be a media blackout if the linked article is in the Washington Post?

So much this. I think the simple truth is that most people don't care about the movement, so very few news channels are reporting it.

If they're trespassing I see nothing wrong with the actual arrests, just the manner in which they were conducted.

Yeah, the next day we're finding out about it. This happened 12 hours ago. There was NOTHING in the media for about the next 5 hours. Not even a blip like we'd get from Libya. Nada. A media blackout of police beating retired veterans. Seriously.

Am I terrible for reading the bit about the government infiltrating message boards and wanting to rush off, make a new account called 'AgentSmith' and deny the whole story with a post count of 1?

:D

From what I've seen tho, the Tea Party sure seemed to get better coverage than this lot.

What I STILL can't understand is how, when it is a case of the 1% screwing the 99%, how many of that 99% vote to keep the 1%'s buddies in power. I get the horrible feeling Obama's out next time, and Cameron will have a clear win next election in the UK, having managed to somehow lay the blame of every unpopular decision on Deputy Scapegoat Minister Clegg.

And that shouldn't be a poll. Sorry, a little incensed over this.
With good reason. But the fact of the matter is that someone can get away with anything if there's enough money behind them. hell, there's a vid on youtube(coworker told me about it, don't have the link) of some protesters stuck against a wall with tape and a police officer just walks up, pepper-sprays them all in the face, and then walks away.

Welcome to America, where you have the right to peaceably assemble, so long as you don't bug rich people while you're doing it.

They weren't trespassing. It is, actually, impossible to trespass in a public area. They were arrested (by over 200 police officers) to protect some 'shrubbery'. It's ridiculous and offensive! They constitutional rights have been violated, and no one seems to care.

I'm sorry, but what? The article you linked only said that there was an incident where a veteran was pushed, resulting in a small group of protestors falling to the ground. The article doesn't even state if the push was intentional or not. If it was, then the officer did indeed act out of line. That doesn't mean we should hold the entire force responsible for the actions of one hot-headed officer though. Also, I don't really see how a single push can be interpreted as "beating" protestors. The word implies repeated and deliberate blows against a person or persons.

Also, the police had been warning protestors repeatedly for a number of hours that certain areas were off-limits, yet they decided not to heed their warnings. Did they seriously think the police would just wag their fingers and go "now now, that's not very nice?"

It's common practice for protests to be held in certain designated areas agreed upon by both parties. Just because they're safeguarding against trespassing doesn't mean the police are goose-stepping fascists out to quash free speech.

So sick of these socialist rich bashing posts. As Herman Cain said it's just poor being jealous of rich people.

There's also a big blackout of how there are incidents of protesters tearing up bathrooms, blocking off restaurants and small businesses, and shitting on police cars. So look at it this way: no one wants to report the bad stuff here since the concept itself is so glorious.

And also there is no evidence of plc's trying to infiltrate online message boards, sounds like you watch too many movies.

Call me cynical, but bet the media drowns any fallout like this or the reasons why the protest happened in the first place with news about how the protestors were rioting or the like and are generally unlikely criminals.
Just like the london riots...

Yes ok there actually was rioting with the london riots, but there were still a lot of valid and legit protests that were ignored because there was a riot going on at the same time.
Instead of thinking something might be wrong or that people may have a complaint, the government just calls them criminals and goes back to ignoring them.

You may wish to look up the word socialist. Because it doesn't mean concern over excessive government power (hell, socialism tends to give the government power) or concern over media censorship. Some of the protesters might be socialists, but that has no bearing on the potential suppression of free speech. Also, I see no rich bashing in the OP.

Besides, surely a right winger (as I'm assuming you are) should be concerned about a government claiming too much power? I thought the right tended to believe in the importance of people being able, in business and otherwise, to go about their business free from unnecessary government interference?
