Does anyone actually know what it's about? I don't watch the news cos it's depressing. Anyone care to sum up the riots with me without using the words 'prick', 'twat' or 'chav'? Or is it actually just prickish chavy twats being prickish chavy twats?

It actually is. It kicked off after a peaceful protest by a family of a man who got shot by the police last week, but the friends and family are condemning the violence, no one's even pretending the riots are about that any more.

Basically, bored London youths realised they have a chance to cause mayhem and loot.

I hear a rioter or two came out with "We're getting our taxes back!" as if they don't get free healthcare and free education. And how is burning down innocent people's homes and breaking into and looting old ladies' bedrooms WHILE THEY'RE IN THERE SLEEPING getting your taxes back anyway?

At first this sounded silly, but I fucking hope there's a better reason for this than "twats being twats" as it was so aptly put. I dunno about Chaos Gods because the rioting isn't worldwide, (as far as I know) some kind of violence virus is somewhat feasible... I think. A product drugged with something, people made sleeper psychos until really angered, policeman killing a guy, [sub]with reason, I hear[/sub] everyone goes fucknuts.

Makes as much sense as people destroying their own city for the hell of it, I guess.

Although, there's a pretty strong argument for blaming the wider influence of American rap music and criminal culture, because apparently when the Police show up and the looters scramble, they cry "FEDS!", not "Police!" or "Old Bill!".

I've also read talk that the UK Call of Duty servers are comparatively empty, so it might be easier just to blame Activision...
