Which XBOX 360 game would you advise me to buy and why? I like games with a very extensive storyline that really pulls me in and also a lot of room to do whatever the hell I like, which is why I'm leaning towards Oblivion. I've always liked the look of Fable 2 and it seems like it could take me a while to complete. But I'm also a very big fan of Sci-Fi games and Mass Effect looks like it also has a large story line that I could get into but less customisation. I would go for Mass Effect 2 but it's not on the XBOX marketplace and I can't be bothered to wait for delivery or pay for it.

If there's another game you'd think I would enjoy then please tell me.

Complete Mass Effect before touching the sequel, as you can transfer the choices you made in the first and it makes a massive difference. The story and writing is first class, unfortunately the combat is ropey but it's functional.

Oblivion is flawed, but it is possible to lose hundreds of hours as there is a stupid amount of content.

Fable 2 is actually really short. The main storyline is barely 10 hours long, and the side quests can all be completed in another ten hours.

I would probably recommend Mass Effect out of all of them. I didn't like it to start off with but once you get into it it's really damn sweet.
What's it like for customisation? And I don't just mean like can I choose my own weapons, I can do that with MW2 and I wouldn't rate that game too high on the scale. I mean like the customisation you get with Fallout and Oblivion, can I make my character evil, leave people alive and it affects different reactions and relationships?

Depends what time of gameplay you prefer, Mass Effect has a much more cinematic feel to its story telling, with 3rd person shooter combat. Oblivion is much more old school in the story telling, classic rpg all the way, with often dodgy first person swordplay etc.

You can't go wrong with either one really. Both are cheap in the shops now, I would get both. Take a pass on Fable for now though.

I've spent more than 200 hours on oblivion and i barley completed half of it. It takes some time getting used to but... it's totally worth every minute, Especially the thieves guild quest chain.

Oh yeah, totally. Mass Effect is pretty much all about choice, and how your choices affect different characters and how the plot develops, and ultimately how everything turns out. You can make choices that will leave characters that you grow attached to dead or worse, have a relationship with different members of your squad etc.

There isn't so much a 'good' and 'evil' side of things. Instead, it is how you carry out your objectives that makes you either a 'renegade' (imagine Kiefer Sutherland from 24) or Paragon, which is good. For example, you could do a favour for a character to get information, or you could torture him to get it instead. There aren't any fundamental 'good' or 'evil' choices ala Fallout.
I like the sound of it. I spent ages on fallout just messing around with people and starting again to be a different kind of guy and see if it made a difference (I found it disappointing when there weren't too many lot changes just a few speech differences, but it was nice). The whole getting attached to your squad and losing them idea makes it sound even better, the whole immersion of a game is what I truly enjoy about them and having that attachment to a character just gives it the edge.

I remember playing Oblivion at a friends house and the whole 'Wait... I can be a theif?!' thing amazed me seeing as I was pretty much accustomed to playing linear games on the PS2 and Wii that offered little customization. Then I was told that I could be a vampire and my mind was truly blown then.

It's definitely been brought down to Mass Effect and Oblivion though, Fable 2 was just in there because I liked the look of it. But the apparent short storyline that looks very linear is putting me off.

Oblivion lets you roam around, but certainly does not have an extensive storyline.

Out of that list I would say Oblivion but personally I preferred Morrowind.

Well... trust me, Oblivion is a must have. I've had more than enough golden moments with oblivion and all the chaos and order is fun as hell. However. The game is not complete if you don't buy the Goty edition. Knights of the nine is just amazing. So, without question, Oblivion!!

Mass Effect 1 and 2 are both solid and Fallout 3 is good as well.

There's always Bioshock 1 if you haven't played that yet. Bioshock 2 sucks.

Fable II was more disappointing than the first Fable (although I played the hell out of the first one, but I just beat the second one and moved on).
Oblivion is good, and probably wouldn't be a bad choice by any means.
My favorite game by far is Mass Effect, not just out of these 3, but ever. Once I let myself get carried away I got completely immersed into the story. I actually care about the characters, and I know a lot about them because you actually have the opportunity to learn about them. A lot of decisions you make carry over to the next game. This can be anywhere from a conversation about what you did to something much bigger. I play games for the story as much as I do for the gameplay, graphics, etc., and Mass Effect really does it for me.
So I obviously recommend Mass Effect over Oblivion, but whichever you do get, get the other one next, then get Mass Effect 2. By then it should be about time for Fallout New Vegas ;)

I suggest mass effect because it is pure awesome, and my second choice woule be oblivion, because the game is massive (one friendly warning though the terrain will get repetitive), not counting the DLC.

If you want real choice dont play those games, play something like Baldurs Gate 1/2 or Fallout 1/2 or Deus Ex.

I have never played Mass Effect, but in my opinion Oblivion is really terrible (I have never tried it on PC though), and Fable II has absolutely no end game and it makes you kinda hate the game by the end of it (it is not that long either).

So I'd go with Mass Effect.

I've already got Fallout 3, played through it, downloaded broken steel and gotten stuck. Bioshock 1 was pretty awesome and I was going to get Bioshock 2 at some point but I decided not to for some reason, I'll probably get it later and see how it is.

I've only heard of Deas Ex once in my life and didn't look into it, but now you've said that I think I will. I might even buy it. But, Baldur's Gate is new to me, never even heard of it on here. Fallout 1/2... hmm, are they as good, or better, than Fallout 3, if they are, then I'm getting them.

Well, good, because I decided to order both Mass Effect and Oblivion, Mass Effect because it sounds amazing and Oblivion because I know it's good. But I didn't get the GOTY edition, it was sold out on Game (I use them because delivery is 1-2 days for free and it always comes within 1 day). But can you not download both add-ons on the XBOX live marketplace?
