I kinda like the idea of the mouse, but I'd like to try it out first before committing to an opinion of it.

It's gimmicky. Might be very inconvenient, but it has a nifty factor going for it. I doubt it will revolutionize anything, but a few people with thick wallets will have some fun with it, so wheres the harm in that? Electronic gadgets can be just cool toys if you don't take it too seriously, and if eventually this technology allows for as many mouse buttons as you want, then I could see that being useful. Imagine having a whole bunch of hotkeys and custom actions on just your mouse. That would be pretty fancy. So enjoy it, you people who dig nifty gadgets, Ill wait until it proves its mettle. It probably won't but I think its those gadget heads job to test out that sort of stuff.

Umm... yeah, that's going to suck. It's so dang thin that there's nothing to grab on to and nothing to lift your wrist up. The images even display the wrist resting on the desk, which is the worst way to use a mouse. It's carpel tunnel waiting to happen... talk about style over function, yeesh.

I would think this is cool if the one-button mouse Apple made wasn't such a piece of shit. But it was, so I don't.

You know those built in touchpad mouses that come in laptops. You know how when you are using one and just surfing a page you can accidentally select something because it interpreted a swipe as a press. Yeah, well thouchpad mouses were generally a poor idea, this is just as bad.

Sorry Apple, I'm not paying.

Apple continues to come out on top by staying trendy and appealing to the counterculture crowd who only care about looking nifty and not using "big shot Microsoft stuff", while simultaneously rapidly steering away from the norm fast enough to give people who dislike them more reason to dislike them.

Hit me up when they do something unexpected.

I'll stick with my trackball, which is better than a normal mouse anyway:
Used to have a few of those(my father got them from others at his work), didn't really like the way they worked and I was constantly cleaning the ball because it felt dirty.

I would still die without back/forward buttons. (Or functionality...because this mouse doesn't have buttons.)
On windows it's shift + scroll up/down to go a page back/forward if you don't have the buttons.

On-Topic: Looks interesting, I've had a few mice where I actually ruined the buttons. Wouldn't use one though, since the scroll wheel is where I rest my index finger and I'm too used to it to ever change it.

I also like how people comment on the thing without reading the link in the OP, where it's said that: Scroll in any direction with one finger, swipe through web pages and photos with two, and click and double-click anywhere.
The only problem I can see with it is that while they claim it knows when your hand is resting on it, my fingers are never not moving.

I would have that problem.
And my brother has a strange tendency to put a tissue on top of his mouse when his hand gets sweaty. How would that work?

Fascinating. More stuff to make ridiculously smudgy with fingerprints unless you have the peace of mind to polish the shit off every ten minutes. Apple, your design philosophy continues to amaze me. Shine on, you true innovators.

More flaming of mac, never mind that they surged ahead in stocks Oct. 19th beating Wall St. speculations and have jumped ahead of competition in sales further solidifying it's growing share of the market.
Everyone who hates mac hates capitalism, there I said it.
OT i think it looks cool, I like the way the track pad works on my MacBook, this simply takes that technology and brings it over to computers. It seems like a good idea to me.
what people on this site don't understand is that Apple simply caters to a different consumer base, you don't have to agree with it... That's how capitalism works, if there is a niche fill it. Which is what Apple has done with its products. It's kind of like having a car. Some people simply want a car so they can drive around, others like to work on cars and modify/ build their cars. Same thing with Macs, a lot of people own computers that they just want to be able to work on documents, view pictures and listen to music on, they don't want to build their own or fiddle with the processor.

Wouldn't work well for me since when I get stressed while on the computer, I am prone to tap the mouse with my thumb and ring finger which could cause horrible things to happen. Oh wait, I don't even use a Mac. I use a PC. Problem solved.

This is why there are no "custom built souped up gaming macs"

and, you know, because no one makes games for them.
