The opinions on the Hobbit are more split than I expected; So I gotta ask, for my own curiosity, did you like the Hobbit or not?

I personally thought the movie was really good, a lot of fun; though it wasn't as good as Cloud Atlas.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching it so yes, I liked it.

I could nitpick but what would be the point?

I really enjoyed it overall. As above, there are complaints I could make, but I'm not into complaining for complaining's sake.

I absolutely loved The Hobbit. I think Peter Jackson did a fantastic job with it. The humor in it was great and so was the acting.

I really enjoyed it. It stayed true to the spirit of the original work which was MUCH more children-friendly and light-hearted than the LoTR novels.

Much like Colour-Scientist, above, I COULD nit-pick. Hell, generally I can nit-pick like a baboon with OCD, regardless of the movie.

But in the end, I spent my money and had a very enjoyable time.

It's a rather entertaining movie, I liked it a lot; great performances, great soundtrack and it never got boring despite its length and source material. 3D HFR made it a very special experience, though. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that the movie was the best thing I've ever seen in my life.

Well... seems rather unanimous thus far... and I'm not going to change it.

Haven't read the book in years... (probably will, though in the near future), so I loved it. Thought the Bilbo vs. Gollum scene was brilliant, and Martin Freeman was spot on as the titular Hobbit.

Thoroughly amused me how Richard Armitage was playing a dwarf though... considering how he towers over most of the cast IRL. Fav character thus far: Balin... oddly...

Great action, dialogue a tad cheesy from time to time, but what is a high fantasy film without it... -_-

I thought it was pretty damned good...<.<

sure it had some issues in establishing a tone and there are way too many characters and Radagast was more than a bit silly... with the whole rabbit sled... but really, any movie that's almost 3 hours long and still left me wanting to watch more really needs to be applauded...<.<

I mean I was sitting there about half way through, checking my watch to make sure it wasn't coming to an end anytime soon...<.>

Loved it, like everyone else here so far. Seen it once in 3D and once in 2D, so I suppose I liked it more than most films.

It wasn't perfect (the Goblin town battle was a bit too Disney) but overall, a top film. Balin and Dwalin were excellent too.

I loved it. Music was great, didn't get as bored as i thought i would (3hrs!?!)

Not sure what all the hates about. The people in front of me, when it came to leave one of them loudly exlaimed "Well that was a waste of 3 hours of my life".

Sountrack was by far the best

I found the movie to be painfully PG-13, much to its detriment, most of the humor to be really uncreative and often cringeworthy, I found the winky-nudgy dialogue and real-world references to be completely out of place and painful to watch, and the film overall to be really padded thanks no doubt to their decision to further split the material.
That's what I'm worried about. Most writing I see in films and TV shows is very cringe worthy these days, especially the real world references.

I'll see it eventually, but not in the cinemas.

I thought it was very good, not quite hitting the heights of the LOTRs but then again I didn't expect it too and it's got another 2 movies to try and achieve that.

More child friendly but this is because the book is, to make it more 'adult' wouldn't be in keeping of the spirit of the Novel.

Now as for High Frame Rate, it's incredible. Sure it's a little jarring at first and the opening looks a little fake because of it (I saw it in normal 2D aswell and it looks perfectly fine) so I don't know whether it will catch on because it will force people to put more effort into making things look good.

Worth watching at any rate :D

A very good film, thoroughly enjoyed it, I liked the light-hearted tone too. My only critique is that it dragged a bit for the first 40 minutes or so until they left Hobbiton.

It was good to me. It looked amazing, the acting was good and the soundtrack was good. I have nothing to complain about.

Some scenes I thought could have been used in an extended version, because I thought it was a little long, but other then that, nothing bad in my opinion.

I didn't like it. I thought too much stupid stuff happened for it to be taken seriously. I've never read the book so I wouldn't know how it compares to the film, but I just thought it came across as really quite childish. They always escaped from situations in moronic ways and I know it's only a minor nitpick, but everyone seemed to have the ability to survive dropping from any height without injury.

You didn't like the rabbit sled?
It was a sled pulled by bunnies, what's not to like?

Well the fact that it's childish might be because it's based on a children's book... contrary to popular belief The Hobbit really isn;t a prequel to LoTR... it sort of just set the universe and established lore... of which later books were based... like Lords of the Ring and the Silmarillion... and that was unintentional...<.<
