It wasn't perfect but I liked it. I much prefer Bilbo to Frodo and it was entertaining.
Sometimes the humor was to crass for my liking, it felt like it was repeating the same pattern over and over again with the fights, sometimes I think they went overboard with the ?look how awesome Thorin is? scenes, it was hard to care about most of the Dwarves because there are so many of them (this movie had both hot and female Dwarves, Blasphemous!) and of course convenient save by Eagles again (I know this was in the book as well, its still bad).

Solid movie but personally, I was just there to see Martin Freeman on the big screen again. Loved his work in HG2G (even though it was a shoddy adaptation) and Sherlock.

Went to see it today and I was definitely disappointed. I found the movie way too long and the humor in it didn't work for me at all. I wish they had fleshed out the characters more and spent less time with the action scenes (Radagast & the Stone-giants). I liked Thorin & the scenery and... I don't know. I didn't hate it but it was just really meh.
5/10
And I was starting to think I was the only one who wasn't blown away with it! Definitely won't be wasting my time with the Hobbit again.

I thought it was an interesting film, it stayed true to the source material, but at times I thought it was seriously being dragged out. I went to see it with my brother, he hasn't read the books, and when the movie ended I leant over to him and whispered "There is still two more films" you should have heard the moan of pain that came from him.

I did think it was a lot more child friendly then Lord of The Rings, maybe it is because I haven't read the book in a while, so I can't remember if the book is the same, but it just seemed really weird.

Also, why did the Goblin King have a really British accent while all of the other goblins were all squeaky and ratlike? Again, it just seemed really weird for that to be like that.

I loved it personally. I haven't gotten to see it in the 48fps yet though. I probably won't get to either. :(

I went in with lower expectations than I would have prefered (down to some of the negative feedback I'd seen) and actually enjoyed it. It was a little slow to get going but still thought it was well introduced set the scene really well. I do think 3 films will be excessive but will have to judge the next 2 on merit. I watched in 2D and am actually tempted to go back and watch again in HFR 3D (and I hate 3D films).
