I wasn't actually much into games growing up. I had an old NES and even picked up a Sega Genesis at one point, but I never played either all that much compared to many other kids I knew at the time. I was generally more happy to mess around with toy soldiers laying out elaborate battlefields and then knocking everything over like a miniature Godzilla or just playing around in the nearby park than to sit around playing video games.

It was eventually a mix of the original Age of Empires and Baldur's Gate that seriously got me into gaming. That doubble whammy of discovering both the RTS genre and the western RPG genre in the same short span of time did it for me, and I've been primarily a PC gamer and a huge fan of both genre ever since. Back then I was playing games on my fathers work computer, now I've got my own custom built gaming rig for the same purposes.

Every once and awhile I still load of Age of Empires 2 for a bit of nostalgic fun, but Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 remain stalwart permanent installations of my computer. Still playing the BG series over ten years after its release, that's quality.

Never really got into FPS competitively. Played some Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament when both were new and am still a fan of both series, but for the most part fps were never really my thing. I have never actually played any iteration of counterstrike, team fortress, and a whole slew of other popular mod-turned-retail games. My loss I suppose, but they never really appealed to me then and they still don't now.
