This here is a match of seeing if the older consoles can overcome the newer consoles of our time.
I myself would vote for the SNES though that's just me.
So which console woudl you vote for and why.(Online is excluded for this match.

Of course people are going to vote for the older consoles. Nostalgia is a powerful thing. A thing that can blur your judgement on such matters.

Voted for 360.

Well depends really if I want a challenging game SNES. If I want a tighter more fluid experience 360. I just wish they made more games with Nintendo difficulty even though I made that thread about imba fighting bosses it is still more satisfying when you win. Well to me.

Yeah, I'm voting 360 as I never owned a SNES and I would take my Xbox 360 over any other console any day.

of course the new consoles will win because everything is better, the old consoles are there for nostalgia purposes.

It basically comes down to Super Metroid and Super Mario vs. games like Halo, Gears of War and Portal 2, plus DVD playing, internet access, good local multiplayer, backwards compatability, indie developed games on the marketplace, rechargeable wireless pads, HD output, and also, forgive me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the SNES priced pretty similarly to the XBOX's current price at launch? Just emulate the SNES.

Based on stupid nostalgia playing a load of good games on my grandparents' SNES, I'll have to go with that.

Well, if it counts, my SNES and Nintendo 64 actually managed to outlive my X-box 360, two of them for that matter. I've always taken care of my systems with monthly dust-offs and other precautions, but overheating gpu systems due to bad airflow just won't cut it.

I'd like to say the older systems, but the newer ones, logically, are superior in every imaginable way(Besides quality). So, my vote obviously goes towards the Crapbox-360.

If we wanted to have an actual voting system regarding consoles, you should've held a poll for console manufacturers with Nintendo being God-Tier, Sega being below that, and Microsoft all the way at the bottom where the deepest circle of hell is reserved for such monstrosities.

I voted SNES because X-Box is twice the fail as your spelling of it in the poll...

Wow, that's a really bad comparison. Of course the 360 is about a billion times more powerful, does way more than simply playing games, etc. By nearly every comparsion it wins hands down.

BUT, I will say that I was about a billion times more excited when I got my SNES for Christmas than I was when I bought my 360. It's just a product of being a child. Like others have said, nostalgia is pretty powerful.

Bottom line: this is a pathos vs. logos debate, so neither side is correct and neither side can be proven wrong. In other words, it's pointless opinion-stating.

Short version: Picked the 360 because modern games are far better than these so called classics, games are held at higher standards. (in my opinion)

Long version: you can emulate the SNES on the computer. however you can not emulate a 360 on PC because it is too powerful (requires 10 to 100x the power to emulate because you are emulating hardware and software) so why would you get a SNES. all this aside, I really don't know what people see in really old console games, your average flash game is just as good and free. I think story and immersion is a big part of gaming and this could not be done on the SNES. (you would not get mass effect 2 on the SNES or halo reach). people remember the SNES as being amazing but if it was new and came out today it would fail even with all the classic game's. most games before PS1, N64 or PC 1994 have shown they're age and are now outdated. free FPS games like modern combat beat the original Doom. metro prime 3 and mario galaxy's are far better than the 64 versions. and crash bandicoot was one of my favorite games so it pains me to say this but Uncharted is far better than crash bandicoot. the standards today are much higher than what they were pre 2000. people like to say things like "they don't make them like they use to" as if it will make them sound cool. game's have improved and indie developers are now developing games that even a team of 300 people 12 years ago could not have done. amnesia the dark decent is a great example of this. however this is all just my opinion.

SNES has some great oldschool JRPGs like FF4, 6, Earthbound, and Chrono Trigger. Also Zelda and Secret of Mana.

Xbox is good, but the SNES wins on the nostalgia factor.

i completely disagree with this. when developers had limited technology, they had to overcome it with gameplay and story. now, they can make pretty much what they want, so you get a pretty piece of crap(CoD,Halo,ETC)

Ah now, whilst some of the games on the SNES were absolute beauties, most of them were rotten piles of turd, like Killer Instinct, and the endless Mario cash-ins. Just as many of the games on the XBOX are worthless, there are as many crap games for each generation of consoles as the next. The XBOX has some great story driven games with great gameplay (and I'm a ps3 guy), like Dead Space, Portal 2, Fable 3, Mass Effect 2, Red Dead Redemption, etc. They all have excellent storylines and gameplay, and in addition to those two things which are available on the SNES, they are also much prettier, more fun, more immersive, feature excellent voice acting by professional actors, feature online capabilities and replay value through DLC and multiple endings.

I voted XBox, because I can mod it and play SNES games on the thing as well as 360 ones, and as it has more RAM than even the largest cartridge had ROM (plus even the optical drive has a high enough transfer rate to load any SNES game in less than 5 seconds including seek time, never mind the HDD) there aren't even any load delays... or time taken to physically swap carts. Advantage: modern console.

Backwards compatibility is also why I'd vote PS2 over PSX... my old grey pizzabox's laser finally focussed its last, and I inherited a PS2 ... said black shoebox both plays its own games (many of them classics in their own right, AND does a pretty good job of running the old black CDs.

Course, can't use any of the copied ones any more, but that's what ebay is for. The originals are cheap enough that it's not worth the bother.
