I rather liked Jade Empire as it was, a nice little standalone game. I don't see how they could make a decent sequel connect and not feel forced.

Rarely does a poll option perfectly capture my sentiment but "I did, but Bioware has fallen too far to do it right." does it perfectly. Jade Empire was great, but Bioware hasn't made a decent game in years. So I don't want a Jade Empire sequel or really any other game from Bioware.

I really enjoyed Jade Empire but I don't really care about a sequel. If one is eventually released and has good reviews, then I'll buy it. If we never get a sequel, I won't think twice about it.

I don't think Jade Empire sucked, but it wasn't very good. Lacklustre combat, terrible binary closed/open choices, the most telegraphed plot point of all time, decent supporting cast of characters, unique (in video games) setting, and a voice cast that rivals a Shaw Brothers film dub, although that last point could have been on purpose. Bioware may as well make it, it seems to cater to their current strengths.

JE was a gem, and BW's first foray into creating their own
IP and world. They created a lovely world with rich story and
characters, though there wasn't enough RP for my liking.

Still, I would've liked to play a sequel, had it followed about 2-3 years later, but it's been too long now and I'm
no longer the BioWare fanboy i used to proudly be. EA sent them back to the creative stone age...as in their games
up until DA:O matured alongside me and other fans. Post EA they're making games for 13 year olds. BW couldn't
do it justice, just as ME3 was an immature military shooter compared with the complex original.

I'd love to see Obsidian make it, even knowing it'll be full of bugs. It would improve on the original while expanding the world, give
a larger, deeper campaign and be a game worth replaying. Ideally it would be made without a stupid.deadline with a pc port
to match the quality of the first's. And Black Whirlwind and Henpecked Hou both need to come back.

Also...Spirit Thief!

In lieu of the catastrophe that was DA2, I kinda think they'd muck it up. And it would have a shitty ending, and then I'd be left with a sour taste of the series...

So... no.

Correct, and even if they did fail it'll still be worth picking it up during a steam...

GODAMMIT EA!

All-right it'll still be worth picking up if I find it on sale. (Of course the chances of it happening are remote but still.)

It's my least favorite BioWare game, actually. The setting is nice. But I didn't really care about the story or characters. And the combat was sort of ass, I thought. Hit-hit-hit, dodge, and repeat. I guess there's a good base there so they could iterate on it and the next one could be group, but I didn't really care for Jade Empire. Sorry, not even John Cleese could make me like it.

No, Jade Empire sucked. I felt ripped off when I bought if for PC then, I still don't think it's worth the price now.

The setting is interesting, I'll give it that, but the story, characters, gameplay, length, and hubs were utter trash. For the price I paid on the PC version, it was a ridiculously short game that did not live up to the coverage it got at all. Your character visits like 3 main hubs (small hubs at that) that not only felt lifeless, but lacks all the grandeur I was expecting from visiting and Imperial CITY.

The game itself felt ridiculously rushed. When I first saw the world map I was like cool that is a pretty big world map, but after unlocking three little sections on the bottom cluster of the map, the game is done really hurts. Again the setting is pretty, but really nothing out of the ordinary.

My biggest problems with the game is the retarded morality system Bioware likes to do and the spirit world. So much could have been done with the spirit world but you only visit it like 2 times, both of which were underwhelming. The twist was not surprising at all to me and from the first time with the fox lady, you would expect to visit it more, but you don't.

As for the morality system, it is literally light and dark from star wars disguised as 'closed fist' or 'open palm'. Closed fists advocates fighting for yourself, helping others becomes stronger ect. while open palm is more budha in teaching others enlightenment, peace, harmony, ect. but the choices given are very clearly light and dark, evil and good. The only good morality system from Bioware that I like is Dragon Age Origins (as in there is technically none).

The combat was meh, the styles were stupid to me, as were the weapons. The controls itself were clunky and magic was useless plain and simple.

I would also like to point out that the demo from for the xbox when OXM was around was ridiculously different and misleading. The demo features a battle in the spirit world with and adversary that gets killed in the beginning of the actual game as well as a battle at the monk temple which was also much more grand than the actual one.

I chose the "i did buy bioware have fallen too far" Probably be plagued with half the content ripped out to be flogged as 1hour DLC costing 8quid each or mass copy paste DA2 style...Also scary that an article on "Bioware defends DLC business strategy" is right in the latest content table for me.

Getting scary images of some kinda water dragon/star child mutation type thing appearing out of nowhere telling me what to do and crapping all over the lore.

From a business perspective Jade empire was quite hit and miss. Some people liked it some people didn't. Do bioware really need another kick in the teeth? so soon? already counted 3 so far.

WARNING!! WARNING!! THIS IS A MATTER OF OPINION AND IS NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES WRITTEN IN STONE!!!!

1. Dragon age 2 - (copy paste rush frenzy..people raged)
2. Mass Effect 3 - (star child ponce and too head up there own arse to admit they were lazy also day 1 DLC...people raged..enough that even the media took eye)
3. The old Republic - (not sure if this even counts as a kick in the teeth, because there still like 1million subscribers?, just because it didn't meet there own insanely high expectations and over marketing hype. i know! its self inflicted kick in the teeth from there over expectations!)

yeah, tOR's problem was that it was meant to some how be WoW with out the same conditions being present.

Mass Effect 3 was the best game in the trilogy form a mechanical point of view and it didn't feel like the side quests where the meat of the game like ME 2 or have the endless inventory/yet some how only one good weapon shittyness of ME but still had a lot of usefully different weapons. Was the ending bad? yes. did it ruin the game? not really.

Again DA 2's obvious "quick lets spam another one out that's a 10th the size" idiocy aside, I again had a lot more fun with the game since I didn't spend hours managing endless amounts of shitty weapons that where obviously just vendor trash. My companions lovingly designed outfits where actually upgradeable so they didn't end up in a mishmash of shit that wasn't good enough for me and then revert every time there was a cut scene.

Do I think involvement with EA is a bad thing? yes, publishers rarely have any positive impact on game development since maximising profit is way more important to them than running something in to the ground by releasing to early and to often.

Just finished jade empire from a recent steam sale. It was amazing. I had never heard about this game before deciding to give it a chance due to the bioware name tag. People endlessly praise kotor, but Jade empire rarely gets the love it deserves. I would buy jade empire 2 on day one!

I would say it was nicely foreshadowed and hid itself reasonably well if you weren't too genre savvy. Also you're saying the most telegraphed of all time when in Kotor.

You are literally told outright that you are Darth Revan in front of your comrades several hours in advance of the big reveal.

I feel like Jade Empire is still the most mediocre game made by Bioware to date.

Other people have already deconstructed a lot of its flaws in terms of characters and story, the combat system especially stuck with me as not just shallow like Kotor's but actively tedious.

Get this vague impression that if you swapped it into a more typical fantasy setting (yes I know the setting was one of the decent bits, don't hurt me) it would be Bioware's fable franchise.

I have gotten up to the ghost world part and didn't want to waste another couple hours on this game. It was boring most of the time, only redeemable part - as always in Bioware games - were the characters.

And then they killed off...

Sagacious Zu

and the game lost the rest of its meager appeal.
