Seems lately I find myself playing more of the games found on online flash games rather than steam. Don't know why, but for some reason some flash games seem more addicting than a AAA game. Just curious as to how the statistics stack with people prefer to play more flash games than a AAA game.

Flash games are fun, but if I had to choose, I'd pick games like Mass Effect or Dead Space over a flash game any day.

They're really there for different purposes. Flash games can be addicting for a time, but they're best for anyone who is sort of scrapped for time, as their lasting appeal is really low. AAA games are much better at creating a longer-lasting experience.

In the end, I prefer the higher production value and lasting appeal of AAA games. Flash games are fun, and I play them every once in a while, but I do prefer AAA gaming.

It's comparing a meal at a restaurant to a candy bar. They're both good, what you prefer depends on your mood and the situation.

Semi-off topic, I wish more indie games on steam/xbla/psn followed the flash game mentality of "let's build a game around this interesting mechanic," instead of the nonstop dredge of quirky platformers with a pretentious, heavy-handed story that we have now.

Flash games or AAA? Can't I just have my Binding of Issac's and Journey's somewhere in the middle?

I do love certain big budget games and a lot of flash games. It mostly just depends on the mood I'm in. Right now though, I'm mostly a fan of mid to low budget games released by smaller developers. They tend to have the most soul and hit me the hardest in my cardiovascular muscle. :p

Bloons Tower Defense may be fun and addicting as hell, but I'd still take Gears of War any day of the week. One of them has a significantly longer lifespan than the other.

Flash games are fillers for me, as they tend to lack long term appeal.

AAA is the meat of my gaming pot pie.

AAA games & indies are my games of choice.

I haven't played a flash game in so long that I forgot when was the last time I did.

AAA games just have more to them in most cases, though Epic Battle Fantasy 4 is better than most big time JRPGs I've played in the past few years.

AAA games all the way, most flash games suck and even the best ones aren't that great compared to AAA games.

AAA games.

I've enjoyed flash games in the past. I will not hear a word against Dino Run. But they're simply not in the same league as a good or above-average AAA game.

Oh, there are the arty flash games. I know some people despise them, but I think they can at least be interesting. I thought Loneliness was kinda neat. But it's still like comparing a single morsel to an entire meal.

My biggest issue with flash games is that they are programmed in flash. Not only is flash one of the biggest holes in your security, but it also manages to run poorly on even great computers. It doesn't make sense that a computer able to run Crysis should crash when running flash.

The games themselves are fun and maybe even addictive, but they don't hold a candle to a great AAA game.

If I have some down time and the TV is not available, I'll play a Flash game. They're never my go to game though if I'm in the mood to play something. They really are more like snacks to tide me over until I get to the real thing. I appreciate them, they're just not something I would play long term.

Depends heavily on the experience I am going for. If I feel calm enough to get immersed, I will bust out a big game. But often times, when I get off work, I just want to play some Shellshock Live 2, and simply unwind by shooting tanks all night.

There was a point in time, when I thought that flash games were the best. I was broke, and didn't even have a hard drive in my computer, so flash games were about all I could do. They were "purer" games to me. They built around a mechanic and ran with it. But, flash games these days are rehashes of other games, and unique games are harder, and harder to find. Huh. Sounds about right.

I've been playing more of the latest flash games than AAA games for a couple of years now, I play classic games more than anything else though.

And I disagree with the people who think flash games can't be as good as AAA games. There are some special ones out there that can be just as intense, immersive and atmospheric. Hell, I don't even know what you're comparing really.
