its genetic (two copies of a recessive gene on chromosome 16 which causes a mutation in the MC1R protein to be exact) and comes with a whole load of other weird funky baggage related to that fact.
we don't need anywhere near as much sunlight on our skin to create vitamin D so its actually an advantageous mutation in low sun light environments like northern Europe which weirdly enough is where the highest percentages of red haired people come from...
the downside to this is we are far more susceptible to skin cancer from exposure to strong sunlight.
we also have different sensitivity to pain to other people which my explain the "quick temper" thang (and possibly the fact berserkers where supposed to have red hair)

It's a tough one, it can look really good, or really bad.
As for the dyed, obvious RED hair that some girls go for, I think it's attractive, partly because to have hair like that shows a level of confidence in yourself.

I'm sort of a redhead. My hair is what's known as "strawberry blonde," and it's every bit as pretty as it sounds. Many have admitted jealousy of my hair and a few girls I didn't even know approached me to ask if they could touch my hair.
Now if only this acne thing would sort itself out.

I have red hair. Actual red hair, I dyed it last November.
My natural hair colour is ginger, though. I do like my natural colour, I'm quite proud of it actually, even if people did make fun of me in school.
As an attraction ? It is a nice hair colour, but I don't really care about colour. Just that they have hair.

I always love guys who are gingers! and also the ladies who are ginger! there is just something about the fair skin and red hair that AWW SO HOT!! not to be rude but I usually find guys with brown hair so boring.

Redheads ... aren't they like vampires or something and burn in sunlight and when sprayed with holy water ... monsters who seduce pious men and women into acts of debauchery that permanently stain the soul and inevitably destroy the body?

In all seriousness ... I don't know, red hair is a little strange. I mean .... it's like being a fox amongst the browns, blacks, blondes and greys of other canids. That being said one of the prettiest girls I ever met was a red haired Scottish migrant.
Though I would have been attracted to her even without red hair, she was a lovely young girl ... well older girl as she was older than me at the time ... and presumably still is assuming no major distortion of our temporal abodes o.o;;
But the red hair .. I don't know ... it sorta snaped your attention, and due to her tall nature everybody knew whenever she entered the room. Such a commanding presence with a touch of the exotic trhat only empowered her visage and demanded your focus.
Alas, she was not interested in me ... but that's a different tale to be told.
On the topic however, I like redheads ... and red hair on the right body may make for a powerful combination.

I love redheads. Although they tend to have firey personalities to go with the firey hair.
