Mind asking what plans? I've assumed political. I can't help but pry. Also, I'm not sure how it messes people's lives up. As long as you have a strong sense of free will and can control yourself there should be no addiction.
You are unworthy of knowing my plans
Right, now that I've gotten that out of the way...
No, my plans do not have any political element, although, if I wish to better serve my people, I could look toward such a course as a political career.
If I use any illegal drugs, ever, I will be unable to donate blood ever again.
And as for messing lives up, if you could see the people in my area, you'd understand.
There are a lot of (weak-willed) drug users in my area, and they are a hazard to anyone they are near. Not to mention thieving bastards, and little vandals.
They steal to continue their habit. It ruins their lives, and the lives of their victims, and families. At least here, it does.
That's a pretty damn good reason. In fact, I don't think there could be a better one.

Also, given the people you're surrounded by who give that example, it's understandable why you'd have that view. The people who do drugs constantly around my area are usually either complete wastes of space or are very intelligent and hard working. The people who are wastes of space were already predicted to be that before they even started doing drugs. There's still a lot of time for the addictions and criminal activity to kick in though.

Cannabis isn't illegal in holland, with us its either a Hard-drug or a soft-drug. soft-drugs can be bought at coffee shops (no they don't sell coffee their just named that way) cannabis is one of them. also in holland we have the lowest amount (percentage, obviously) of people who are addicted to drugs. why does our system works that well. by drawing the line between 'safe' drugs as cannabis and the 'dangerous' drugs like xtc, heroine or cocaine people will be less likely to use them. think about it. if you had the choose between a legal rather safe but satisfying drug like cannabis or a illegal hazardous to you and loved one's, madmen like meth or heroine. The choice is rather obvious then

"cant get their fix"? cannabis isnt addcitve

"molding them into something for society"? society is already fucked tbh and not due to drugs but humanities innate, greedy nature.
Please, I beseech you, knock that into the heads of the addicts in my area, I'm sure that'll stop them.
And yes, they could have been made into something more useful for society.
But that chance was lost. Society may be fucked in your opinion, but the death-throes could have at least been delayed longer.
But as it is your "area" that this problem has spawned from, is it not more likely that peer pressure is the problem? not cannabis? perhaps People being ignorant of the drug? It seems to me that the people themselves, not the drug itself is the problem. if it wasn't crannabis it would be something else.

for example. if i lived in a area were everyone fought over coke-a-cola but the rest of the world. or in-fact, the civilized of the world were fine taking it. whose to blame? the people? or the coke-a-cola?

look at Holland. its not a big mess of chavs stealing and fighting is it?

Never have, never will. Don't really care about it that much.. I've been around it my whole life (I'm literally the only one in my immediate family who hasn't tried it) and I'm just kind of tired of it.

Oh great. Another thread full of people judging stuff because they're so worldly and obviously know everything about it after watching that after-school special and outomatically believed the strawman.

The ignorance. It burns my eyes.

I can still appreciate this however.

People can be HILARIOUS high.
As well as dangerous.

Don't anyone try to compare it to being drunk either, I have seen people who have been drunk and people who have been high, and it is not the same.
Have you ever seen a guy who was high beat a guy up senselessy for a little thing?

I know I have seen drunk people do it a lot at the bars. But at my local coffeeshop 0 violence ever occurs.
I have gotten beaten up for wearing an up side down cross. During the trial I learned that he was high at the time. Also saw a stoned guy flipping out on the subway once... Have never seen any fights at the pubs or while being at a party, but I don't believe it doesn't occur just because I haven't seen it. Why would you think stoned people never go crazy?

I smoke on occasion to chill out. I used to blaze constantly through my late teens early twenties, but I tend to just pick up a little here and there these days, and only smoke when I'm gonna sit down with my book and relax for a bit. For example, I shall get a smalla mount for over xmas to recover from the hecticness of the holiday period.I dont smoke with friends, my days of "sessioning" are long sinec done.

And I dont drink very often, so smoking a bit of dope is my way of spending "me" time.

All drugs have side-effects.

Cannabis is no different so you're running the risk of whatever.
If I may be so blunt, I look down on smokers in general and more so if it's cannabis.
It's arrogant and fairly pointless because no matter how high you get, there is always a low.

Jus' my opinion.
Hehehe you're a blunt one.

I have never tried it, never intend to try it. No reason really.

I've only tried it twice and I'm not in a hurry to do so again. It seems to get me violent, if not aggressive, when I'm already on edge. However, I don't mind when others smoke it, as long as they don't force me to be a passive participant.

Yes I have used it, back in my wild and reckless youth. I didn't like it, and i don't really want to go back to it. I also hated smoking.

So much of my opinion on it is from personal experience, which has been overwhelmingly negative. Everyone in my year who drank had drunks' problems, got into fights, were occasionally sick, did stupid things.

Everyone who did cannis changed entirely. It was pretty subtle, but their behavious changed with long usage until they were different people, and not in a good way. They got paranoid, they got anti-social, they got into the mindset of 'it's not worth doing anything, let's just go get high.' They weren't addicted to cannabis as such, but they were sure as hell addicted to the feeling it gave them.

Also, I knew at least three people who moved onto harder drugs because of cannabis. Again, not because of some 'gateway drug' thing, but because they had heard nothing but how bad cannabis was, tried it and liked it, so assumed that harder drugs were also getting similar bad press. One of them is now homeless, a crack addict and a thief (but then he also had a family who were into heavy drug use), my old drummer was more LSD type things, he's dropped out of university twice and now spends his time on his parent's sofa donig nothing all day, and the third is scraping along at the bottom of the job ladder.

So yeah, it's not so much that I automatically think cannabis is bad, but it's that my only experiences with it have been exceedingly negative. Part of my general belief about life is that people are better when they're regularly doing something that could even be considered vaguely productive, even if it is just something mundane like foruming on the internet, and when people I knew started smoking marijuana, while they were on it they slowly stopped doing other things. I kept in touch with some of them and they've picked up their activites again, but have stopped smoking marijuana.

I'm biased by opinion, but you can throw all the facts at me and I'll still consider the sensation addictive, even if not the drug, which can be just as dangerous. And it's for the same reason I would still consider it akin to a gateway drug given the right person.
