So it seems we have a full roster for Dragon Age: Inquistion, and I wanted to get a feel for what new companions people liked most and why. Reasoning can be justified by story or gameplay. Before anyone asks, Varric is not on the list since he is not a new companion. Anyway, have at it, looking forward to seeing what people think.

This was a difficult question to answer, as they all (or at least nearly all of them) seem really interesting and yet we still know so very little about them. I ended up voting for Solas because I've always liked that withdrawn deep thinker kind of character (probably because I see myself a bit in them). Honourable mention goes to Blackwall with that sexy beard - finally a love interest that is a real man, no more Carths or Kaidans but a real manly bear with an awesome beard. Also, did I mention the beard?

But all in all I'm really intrigued to meet pretty much all of them except for Vivienne, she never really caught my attention. I've never been as into the companions of Dragon Age as those of Mass Effect, but this game shows some real promise on that front. Can't wait to meet them all.

Yeah, they all seem ok. At least, much better than DA2's companions. I didn't dislike them, but... like, Aveline, Sebastian, Fenris, Varric (I think), and the new dog are the only new companions. Everyone else is from Origins or its DLC, and they're so different in terms of personality that it's kind of jarring.

I can't really pick a favourite for now, because we don't really know too much about them. Arguably the best part of Bioware's games are the characters and their own arcs and stories, and while Dragon Age has always let them take a back seat in preference for a legible, sane story as opposed to their usual writing which branched off into so many insane subplots that it made me dizzy, it seems like they're going to be the main focus again.

I suppose if I had to pick one I'm slightly more interested in over the rest, I'd say The Iron Bull. Because most of the Qunari the player has met so far have been stony-faced assholes, so having a more relaxed one would make them a little more sympathetic.

So far, I'm very happy with the roster. Nice variety in romance options, nice gender variety, and overall nice character design. I'm very happy to see another female warrior join the ranks. We final seem to have a main male companion that isn't a whiny asshole. And all the others have interested me enough to want to get to know them better.

Personal favorite has to be Cassandra.

I know very little about pretty much all of the companions (Varric and Cassandra aside). Aside from who can and cant be romanced, and some basic ideas about their personality, it is pretty much a mixed bag of mystery. Anyway, I'm probably going to go for Cassandra, although her presence in DA2 is kind of cheating, otherwise, Dorian or Sera seem pretty fun, although I cant see Sera getting much use if Varric is always going to be an option, at least in my first non-Rouge playthrough.

Having read the tie-in novel, Cole is by far the most interesting character. I'm meh on the others.

Iron Bull.
For some reason, he just seems the kind of character that will be my Inquisitor's brotag/Yosuke/best friend. I have seen much of him, but I hope to see more to make a final judgement. Yes, I know Varric is there, but he's bros with Hawke, and I feel that my Inquisitor would be much more friendly with the person who can have fun with his gigantic weapon.

Cassandra would easily be second place, especially since my Protagonist is going to romance her. She seems really interesting, especially when I consider what the Inquisition might do, and what she may think of such events. I like how she is a warrior, and a "morally" good one at that ... not good as my Hawke or Warden, but pretty damn close.

In fact, these two come extremely close.
I could barely choose between them, but I like Iron Bull's look a tiny bit better.
To me though, Cassandra is gonna be a nice romance.

Cassandra cos she's the only one I have any idea about. I'll wait til the games out to make a judgement. So far a lot of them remind me of JRPG characters though, very gimmicky visual design and over elaborate.

The new characters look very cookie cutter and bland to me.

The only one that I want to see how they made him is Cole because I recently finished Asunder novel and I wonder if this personality is the same as in the book.

Blackwall
- It's Uther!

Cassandra
- It's tall Alyx Vance!

Cole
- Fabulous hair

Dorian
- nice 'tache, and why's your name a disgusting fruit.

Iron Bull
- I'ma calling him Full Monte.

Sera
- Look it's the singer from Deadlock.

Solas
- Let me guess, Voldemort's little brother?

Vivienne
- Another Qunari... wait, that's your hair?

Conclusion: I am going with Full Monte.

You forgot to add the option "Can't chose until played the full game and probably also the overpriced DLCs cause half the characters most interesting aspect of their backstories will be kept here to suck more money from us suckers RPG enthusiasts"

I doubt I'll be picking this up, and I'm sorry to say that I don't like any of the characters' physical designs at all. Having said that, I can tell at a glance of each of their back-stories what sort of party mine would be.

Solas, Sera, Varric and Female Inquisitor(PC).

As far from orthodox as possible. The sort of party that's going to come to blows with Cassandra sooner or later.

Voted Sera in your poll but I'm really not that crazy about any of them.

Well it's all well and good and all but... Why can't I just romance Varric? I love that dwarf :( I can't romance Dorian as a female? Ah well, I'll just romance Iron Bull! Should be interesting! I'm quite happy with the line up. I'm really very excited about the game and can't wait to play it.

Why can't I just romance Varric?

Are you a short blond-haired lass named "Bianca"?
Nope?
That's your answer.

Okay fair point but it doesn't happen quite that often. Half of those install right along with the rest of the game without requiring any additional purchase.

Well, all but two of those are complete DLC characters, which they have said they will not do for Inquisition (and in fact can not do because the characters are too integrated in the story). So it's only really two such DLCs, and LotSB is debatable since Liara is not an actual companion in that game.

That...can be arranged. Character creation for the win.

Anyway, I don't really know enough about any of them to make a judgement yet. All I know for certain is that Merill is absent, and that makes me sad.
