OP you fail at hiding your inner Sony fanboy.

Microsoft and Sony are pretty much on the same level and they're going to stay like that for the remainder of this generation. Just buy all the consoles and be happy.

What are these consoles I hear so much about?

Oh well, back to Civilization V.

Nintendo have a lead when it comes to sales. The others are far behind, largely because the Wii appeals to so many people. Of course, this doesn't necessarily make it bad.

Nintendo is winning and will always win. Why? They're the only actual game company - and it shows, time and again.

Also, the internet and therefore the console wars are too US-centric. That's the only reason why the XBox has so many supporters... and why they're all wrong (because they're Americans). That RRODing abomination just has a fairly specific target demographic and... that's had some unwelcome side-effects. Especially in shooters. Design them for gun-crazy handegg-watching manchildren who have to volunteer for the army and you get Modern Blehfare instead of Serious Sam.

Sony has its pros and cons. I'm sure if they tried they could be a much stronger counter to the XBox, but they seem fairly content with making the Japanese and Europeans happy enough. The PlayStation 1 changed the gaming world. Nintendos were for kids, The PSX were for older teens who can watch the slaughter of vampires and zombies, beat each other up in Tekken insteaf of Street Fighter, and race in real-world sports cars instead of Mario's karts.
Now they mostly share the multiplatform "glory" and ruin Final Fantasy (or so I've heard).

Note: I don't have any of the consoles, only played the Wii briefly last week, always went to a friend's to play PlayStation titles - but never failed to find a reason to laugh at the XBoxes.
don't think the console war is U.S. Centric. Worldwide sales show a similar breakdown across the board.... with the exception of Japan which is the only country where the 360 has gained a foothold. And Japan is a noriously hard market for imports.

I'm a Sony guy.

From PS1, PS2, and PS3 they have yet to dissapoint me. And in my opinion the PS3 looks better.

With games like Demon Souls, Little Big Planet, Uncharted, Killzone, and future Shadow of the Collosus.

However I hate exclusives, in my opinion if a console can run it, why not share it.

Well since I only own a PS3 I think I'm required to root for Sony in this.
That being said though I think that Nintendo is probably "winning" from a economic point of view but on the other hand they're focusing so much on the "casuals" that I think they might slowly be losing the actual gamers.

There should be of some sort.

OT: My opinion is, I hate it and it's annoying. Especially now with the "the Move is a Wiimote ripoff" and "the Kinect is an iToy ripoff" comments.

Who I think is winning? I'd say they're even.

Heheheheheehe. I really don't care that much..perhaps I am biased. I have the two Slims - 360 and PS3. When Killzone, MAG, Uncharted, Little Big Planet, Heavy Rain and God of War come out the PS3 gets turned on. Likewise, whenever there is a new Gears of War, Fable or Alan Wake, I'll turn the 360 on.

If there is no exclusives then I have my computer on...like now..playing Mass Effect 2 again. However if I must point out whose winning..I'll go with the PS3. Have you seen it's 2011 lineup? It's packed with major releases, granted only three that I really care about (Uncharted 3, LBP 2 and Killzone 3)

The 360 only has Gears of War as something of worth next year. That's a dry year.....

Coming from a 360 gamer, the PS3 is better in almost all regards. The only things that keeps me from buying a PS3 and selling my 360 are the friends I have that only have XBL and the fact that PS3 ONLY gets Mass Effect 2, meaning that PS3 gamers won't understand half the important, emotional moments in ME2 because they did not spend as much time on the little "interactive comic" than one would on the first game.

However, I read somewhere that if you added up all the money earned from PS3 games and combined them with money earned on 360 games, you still wouldn't get as much earned from Steam games. Same place also said that 360 console sales combined with ps3 console sales still don't equal the sales of gaming computers.

Personally I Dont care much for the Console "Wars"

I Do however have a personal opinion on them

Wii = Gimmick pure and simple and like the DS is almost Drowning in Casual games or Games with silly Addons you need (Like the wii-fit board) the DS however has much better 3rd party support xD

PS3 = Going strong now and when I can afford too I think I might pick one up. at the start it didnt have that many good titles for it but now its really, really picked up.

360 = while the hardware is made of crap and Microsoft keeps trying to cover that up with layers of bs (Newer chipsets, Removing the light error code, slim 360 with same fundamental flaw) they always had a strong enough line up to make it worthwhile owning

in my mind the only 2 Consoles competing with each other are PS3 and 360 and there both about equal there is no winner between them, Wii is catering to another market all together really and so I dont compare them to the other 2, as much as I dont compare the NDS to the PSP.
