I do not even use impulse much anymore, so origin can count me out from installing another god damned client for me to forget the password to.

I don't care about MMOs much, don't play battlefield, so its really only new bioware titles that may affect me in the future.

Also, how can they call it origin, when they originated, approximately, nothing?

I like steam. I got my games on steam. I got my friends on steam. They know where I live. They have my credit card information. I don't want to share that again with another plattform. It's just, inconvenient.

I fail to see how exclusivity bullshit is at all beneficial for gamers.
It isn't but competition is, but I doubt EA got what it takes to scare the steam team.

If both platforms carry only games that are exclusive to them(not counting the other digital distributors in this), how can they possibly compete?

If only one carries a particular title, buying it does nothing to affect the other.

I'll be over here, shopping at GamersGate and gog.com. I don't like getting ripped off and Steams pricing is ripping me off. A new release on Steam costs more than a retail copy. So I only use Steam in sales. That, and I bloody hate their customer service.

I haven't used Origin yet, but their pricing seems as bad as Steams so I imagine I won't be using it much.

Steam already has my personal info so I feel there is only one way to vote. I must support steam out of fear. Oh and the fact that it works for me. I also use impulse but steam has bigger sales.

steam is my god and nice...please sir can I have a sale now?

tbh, I don't want to give out my details any more than I have to and I already have Steam. Plus it's a hassle. I can have Facebook and Steam running. If I change to Google+ and Origin I'm just going to have to keep the others as well because I'm still connected to them. So I don't want them.

I hate to say it, but Steam is not always the one having the cheapest price. Link [http://shockedfish.com/]

The fact is, people will find more convenience through steam than most other places.
Not sure why you quoted me then, I didn't say Steam has always got the cheapest price. In fact, my entire point is that people care more about the price than the place they download it from.

It's good in that as long as Origin even remotely threaten STEAM (Perceived or real), STEAM has to look over its shoulder, which translate to more sales, better service or what not. And really the worst case scenario is that you can't buy EA games on STEAM, which honestly is nothing more than a minor annoyance, if at all. So that's why I it's good for us that EA tries this.

If EA fails, they are big enough of a company to absorb it, I doubt will feel bad for them.

Steam loves their customers, Origin loves to rip off their customers and powdered toastman FTW.
I really hate blind little fanboys that think Steam is some paragon of virtue. I know enough enough people who have been screwed over by Steam, and had their whole account ripped off, my brother included. To paraphrase Yahtzee a little; Valve is like a stripper: They don't actually like you but pretend to so you can give them your money. I use Steam for one or two games, but I'll never have a library of games with games that cost more than $10 each and of more total than what I spent already of around $65, basically the price of one console game.

I just don't trust Steam, and so far I don't use Origin. Though I have heard good things about it from friends who do. Origin is a little rough, but so far a good store front and you don't need it running to play games since it's basically just a down-loader for them. So I'm really hoping Origin does well, and after Steams extra little hissy fit of pulling EA games from it's lineup if they aren't allowed to make money off of it's DLC I'm also hoping Steam gets taken down a peg.

As much as I hate EA's marketing, I love the games their devs make. It's a though nut to crack, I'll probably get those games physical. I think that one company having access to my money is more than enough. Origin is wasting Steams time with this bullshit.

Your brother needs to stop telling his password to strangers.

He said that about Nintendo, in case you weren't aware.

What is this I don't even... Please learn English. I'm not quite sure what you're saying in this abomination of a sentence, but Steam offers cheaper prices than brick and mortar stores for games, especially with the periodic sales they have. Case in point, I got Mass Effect 1 and 2 for $10, Assassin's Creed 1-3 for $30, Portal 2 for $25, and tons of indie games for under $2.50.

Do there really need to be battlelines? I use consoles most of the time, but I do use Steam often. And I'll likely use Origin for Battlefield 3. Is there something so wrong, so terrible that stops one from just using both? Sure, I'll likely use Steam a hell of a lot more, but I'll use Origin if needed.

My god, THIS! Why do we have too pick and choose just one online retailer? What is so wrong about using both Steam and Origin? people are making it sound like were picking a new friend over an old one. were not.
