I've done all three, and I have to say I liked scenario the best, because it allowed us to make a plan beyond "shoot and not get shot".

(We were a group of six paintballing for my friend's birthday party, and we all brushed up on generic small unit tactics and tried to make use of them. We won every game we played. :D)

Edit: That is to say, the scenario is strategic as well as tactical, and I like having both.

Airsoft for me. More authentic weaponry, and at least where I live the airsoft players are much more grown up and so on since you must be 18 years old to play it. It's always well organized and I really like avoiding those annoying kids that paintball seems to attract in my area. Primarily though, it's the authentic looking rifles that pulled me towards airsoft, I used to play paintball when I was younger, and then I used a Stryker MR1 I believe it was called.

As for type of game, I play MilSim (Military Simulation), not sure where that goes in any of those categories. Maybe you should make one for MilSim too? =)
Id put milSim under senario its basicaly the same thing and if u like authentic looking guns, check out that T68 marker i mensioned it functions like the real deal as well ;)
I know some paintball markers are authentic looking, but that's the exeption rather than the rule. Airsoft has a much bigger focus on authentic and realistic gear, which is why I like it. It's not just my rifle, it's what the others have. =3

I grew up on woodsball with old Tippmann markers. My first look at speedball pretty much had me judging it as a waste of money. "Laying paint" is just a manufacturer's tactic to get you to buy more paintballs.

My favorite marker is my old 68 Carbine. Still works, and still has the original bronze air tube/trigger guard. The Pro Carbine and Pro-Lite may be faster, lighter and more flexible, but I love my carbine for its dependability at any angle except upside-down.

Feel free, but becareful. It loses its luster if you live in an area with little/no snow, and we're talking about people like me who run in a white t shirt and black jeans laying in below 30 degree (Fahrenheit) weather that with wind chill can drop more for what could be hours.

How serious you want to take it though is up to you.

I haven't been able to play paintball, on account of my paintball gun being in las vegas and I'm in San Diego. While my most favorite game is speedball, everything is so frickin hectic and fast, adrenaline rushing and everything.

hands down the best game I ever played was a 20 v 20 woodsball tourney, and there were 3 guys that were in the US special forces, and they were sporting top of the line equipment. I had a sniper on my team with a custom made long range paintball rifle, and he would pick off people from the back of the woods while hiding in a bush. good times.

Woods/Scenario ball all the way. I still have my Original Tippman Pro-Am(egads I have had that gun 15 years) although I usually hit the field with a modded A-5. Altogether I can fully field a 4 man team just on the equipment I own.

Speedball or Sup'Airball. Fits my play style, quick, field-of-fire based, team work needed. Airball is ton of fun when you have a good team. I was on an amateur team for a while and I loved it.

As for realism, which has been discussed above. Go play airsoft, you can get some super tacti-cool stuff to play with.

But if you're going to spend that kind of money, buy real firearms. Once I hit the age of 18 I stopped buying paintball stuff and started acquiring bolt-action rifles and shotguns. Then at age 21 I started buying handguns and assault rifles.

I must say, I have ALOT more fun with my AK-47 at the rifle range than I ever had while playing paintball. Occasionally I'll get to go out and do some Run and Guns, which are sorta like shooting competitions, you run through a course shooting targets and stuff with your rifle and switch to your sidearm and engage closer targets.

When I usually do this, it's with my friends on one of our plots of land. It's kinda hard to get new people into it, the start up cost is a lot. Additionally, whenever we go out, we always have one guy be the safety officer for the day, or half-day. They have to watch everyone like hawks and yell at people who are doing things that could potentially cause accidents. When messing with real firearms, safety is the biggest concern.

Also, I'm selling a Smart Parts Impulse, with an O2 tank, Smart Parts FREAK Barrel and Halo B.

I really prefer airsoft. No giant mess, easy to accessorize, and the gun looks and feels like a real one.

Real weapons are the funnest to use, but you can't really step outside and use those...
