My dad used to try to play games with me and my brothers when we were much younger. Now he mostly plays Solitaire and other computer games like that.

He did just get a Wii for him and his girlfriend. Hopefully that'll go well.

My Dad Likes Halo, All FF (but 13 cause he has taste), fighting games, Kingdom hearts and Obilvion.

My Mother liked (past tense) Crash bandicoot, Rayman, Mario and Medievil.

These are just their personal favorates.
Greatest family bonding time; Hudled around a small tv playing FF7 together

My mum plays her dc all the time, we bought her two she loves animal crossing and puzzle games anything not too fast and iphone games so I guess shes probably a casual gamer. She knows way too much about other games though and was always interested in what me and my brother were playing.

My dad thinks games are evil and reads too much daily mail.

My dad was a avid FPS gamer.

He started with Driver on the PS1, and quickly went on to medal of honor, the Call of duty 1 + 2. Then Counter-strike.

Now, in a fantastic turn of events, he now plays World of Warcraft... My mind.

My dad has apparently played wolfenstein and some doom in his younger days. He was the one to introduce me to gaming, as he bought us a PS1 and some games, but he doesn't actually play games so much, nowadays...

My mother however, oh boy..., She says she won't test any of my games, saying she might not like any of them, but close to every day, she is playing a rather old norwegian game, where she is only playing some of the minigames.

She loves that game...

my father didn't play any video games, but my mother used to play video games often when I was a child (usually to give me and my brother some help with the harder levels). Nowadays, she usually just plays Angry Birds on her iPad

I've been playing co-op shooters with my dad as long as I can remember. Conflict Desert Storm, Ghost Recon, all that kind of stuff. I remember watching him play the original XCOM and Rainbow Six on the PC when I was a kid and having a fucking whale of a time.

My uncle used to play loads of classics with me when I was a kid as well though so I guess that's where I get it from. He gave me his N64 and Majora's Mask for Christmas one year, ultimate love for that.

My father played games before, now only occasional solitaire, but in the past he used to play games like Carmageddon, Tomb Raider and has introduced me to MDK :D
He even played a D&D session with me and my friends and that was, quite frankly, awesome.

My mom used to loathe everything about videogames, and thought they were making me more anti-social that I already was.

Now, she loves DDR and professor Layton.

And she no longer gets upset at me playing games.

EDIT: Oh and my dad only ever liked "outrun" and that TNMT arcade game. He generally thinks games and their concepts are silly.

My father would occasionally play games with me and my brother. We managed to coach him all the way through the original Super Mario Bros. Unfortunately, he then wanted to try Super Mario World on the SNES and quit when he couldn't figure out how to swim. He got frustrated and gave up. Shame, because he was genuinely better at some C64 games than we were.

He never had much interest in complicated games, though, so current gaming would probably just annoy/confuse him. Run and jump was enough for him.

My mum doesn't understand gaming. She doesn't enjoy it, doesn't want to but doesn't mind that I'm into it.
My dad is different, he enjoys some games but rarely finds the time to play them through. He'll buy an Assassins Creed game and play it for about 10 hours, or until he's 'Had his fill of it' and then move on. I always recommend games to him that I know are shorter after their prices go down, so he can fully experience what the game has to offer before he just gets tired of it.

My mom does play a few casual games, and Stonekeep, an old RPG.

But my dad played games whenever he could. I remember he had a friend over for dinner, and to play Resident evil 2.

My dad plays BF3 and Crysis from time to time. My mom will only play Zelda games, so she hasn't really played since she beat Twilight Princess (the newest Zelda she owns).

My mom has never touched a game, ever. My dad though, used to play quite a bit. He liked the Dune and Command & Conquer series on the PC, kinda what got me started on them, and also the first shooters like Wolf 3D and Doom. Nowadays though, he's kinda anti-gaming, since games like GTA3 and the like started to become popular. I guess all the propaganda about how violent gaming harms kids kinda got to him.

He still shows interest in the newer games that I play, and is amazed at the scale and complexity that they have, although he thinks every post-apocalyptic type game looks the same (Fallout, Borderlands, Rage, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., etc.)

My dad tried playing IL-2 Sturmovik, and ended up finishing the single player campaign (which is abnormally prolonged and difficult) for each faction, then loaded up the Multiplayer and kicked some ass there too.
Pretty much that. My dad was an aviation buff (I got that from him) and he loved watching me play IL-2. He tried it a couple of times, but unlike the example above, he kept failing miserably.

I'm about to be a dad in a few months, and I will most surely keep on gaming.

My dad brought me up on SNES, Megadrive and Playstation. We used to play all the time. Then he stopped around the time the 360 came out.

Recently he took up playing again, but only Call of Duty titles. He only bought it because his other friends started playing it. And because of the kind of game it is, my dad acts like a total dick. He's obsessed with it, he' a foul mouthed 13 year old in a 44 y/o's body. In the past six months, he's started dropping words like rape and ****** into everyday conversation with me, my mum and my sister. Furthermore, he used to play stuff like Ratchet and Clank, Crash Bandicoot and Tomb Raider, but now wouldn't get caught dead playing them, because they're gay, which is now a legitimate insult, apparently.

He's angry ad impossible to communicate when he plays and is in that rage-y mindset for the half an hour following coming off the Xbox. And he plays at least 4 hours a night, 6 on week ends and sees nothing wrong with locking himself in his room, shouting loud enough that you can hear him from anywhere in the house and keeping us awake until 2 in the morning because he can't shut the fuck up and put the controller down. GAH.

It kind of makes me wonder what I'm like online, and I'm positive I don't act like him. Although I can see why people who never play games think they're terrible, after seeing the change in my dad.

... Oh that felt good to get out.

My dad mainly played sports games like FIFA and Madden during the ps1 days though not is much now.

My mum doesn't like games at all. Unfortunately she's the type to get up arms about violence in video games. She always used to bug about the games I played. Ironically she once saw me playing a Ratchet & Clank game and said, "Isn't that game a bit kiddy for you?". You just can't please some people XD
