*can* a fart be funny? yes. but 99.999999999999999999% of the time, no. and that includes almost all fart jokes in hollywood and in writing.

Farts are mainly good when you're the one doing them. I love when I fart, but I can't stand it when my wife does. I find it cute when my 9 month old does them.

exactly! that's pretty much exactly what i was getting at in my post above. it's all in the timing, as with the great classic slapstick routines.
