no mattter WHAT game i buy, i know its always gunna run smoothly on my ps3.
O Rly?
Maybe because I'm a frame-rate-whore but consoles and especially PS3 do not give the framerate smoothness I desire.
Devs seem to be more ambitious on PS3 (killzone 2) that can cut the frame-rate from to 18fps, or they are simply lazy and hand their 360 code to some third party to port to PS3 with inevitable performance nosedives.
But I can see where you are coming from, unless you have the right hardware and right settings for PC then fame rate will turn to a slideshow. but IF you are anal enough (like me) to fiddle with those settings then you can get a solid 60 frames per second full v-sync and anti-aliasing too. But via brute force processing power and meticulous tweaking.
Many games benefit from PC's awesome power and customisability, Bad Company 2 is one, able to play in 1080p and 60fps really changes how fast paced the gameplay can be from consoles' 720p 30fps.
Laptop isn't very good example of PC gaming as:
-stuck to a small screen
-pay premium for compact components of equivalent power + portable battery power ect
-can't really upgrade in any way
-components tend to be geared towards battery endurance than performance.
on dekstop however if you are savvy you can get a LOT for your money.
8800GT was a great card back in 2007, still kicks ass today and even better adding another one (£50 refurbished) in SLI will offer max setting and frame/res for all the latest games.
PC is a labour of love, you have to read SO MUCH to figure out what to do and you will pay dearly for any mistakes, but high risk comes with high reward.
