I fail to see any discernible difference between a pc gamer and console gamer.

The 360 will probably do you better. The PS3 hasn't exactly aged well, what with all the function cuts as it aged.

Go for the Xbox, just because it's good to have a PC as well as console that can run the new games. Keep the PS2, though. As long as it still works, there's no sense in getting rid of a console that had so many good games.

I personally would go with the PS3, I have a 360 and a gaming PC and I find that I rarely bust out the 360 for anything, I took it out for Red Dead Redemption and that was pretty much it, the rest of the games I was interested in came out on the PC.

Take a look at more PS2 games, you are looking for split-screen fun and the new generation of consoles isnt using it a lot. If you dont see any interesting hidden gem then go for the Xbox 360.

Take a look at these games:
Timesplitters 2 and TS: Future Perfect (great multiplayer with bots and great coop)
Splinter Cell Chaos Theory (the coop is awesome)
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 (I think that it has split-screen)
Freedom Fighters (the multiplayer can be quite fun and its diferent from most games)
State of Emergency (it isnt a game for everyone but it can be fun)

Gather 'round my fellow PC gamers.

As you all know, we are a dying breed, so it's a sad day indeed when we lose yet another one of us to the uncaring claws of mass produced outdated technology. A moment of silence for the lost. May they find a better life among the Start, and the other buttons.
I really can't see a point in caring about witch is better PC, console....WII!! if they play games and there good that keeps me happy XD

But I do agree with the PC being better in ways XD

Wait... you're a PC gamer... but the PS3 is far too expensive? lol.
You just don't get it. For some people it's just way easier to unplug the modem and say "Dad, our PC is too old, it won't run the internet anymore" than to save money for an expensive toy.
Then your dad who is tech-savvier than you'll ever be plugs back in your bright-yellow high-speed cable and beats you with a belt for being an entitled little snot who he raised better.

(More likely outcome) :D

lol a WII ? To me thats the worst console out of all of them. If you are leaving PC gaming at least get an Xbox 360.

Some people implies the minority. Should have gone with most people. I like consoles though, they're basically idiot proof, and you know if you take care of them they go far. Even the 360. Of course, gaming for me is a very calm and non-kenetic thing. I don't stamp feet or run around the house. I don't try to strangle my console to death, and I don't play for more than four hours at a time (rare). Some people who complain about 360s have tortured-tested those things.

I've got a fatboy PS3 60GB and honestly, it was a good investment. The PS3 games are great, but if I couldn't play my PS2 games on it as well, then I wouldn't have bothered (seeing as I have 22 PS2 games compared to the 8 PS3 games sitting on my shelf)

I wouldn't go for the 360 if you're a PC gamer. As everyone else said, you can usually play the same games on your comp as you can on the 360. The wii has some decent games and seeing that you can play gamecube stuff (while remaining cheaper than the PS3) on it allows for a few more options in your game library.

Here's the reasoning I bought a PS3 over the 360: At the time, it was in the news that Microsoft extended the warranty of the 360 due to the RRoD. The very fact that you even THINK about the warranty on a game console is a VERY bad thing.

Find a PS3 that's backwards compatible, as hard as they are to find, get as many great PS2 games you can find and download as many great PS1 games. If that fails, just get a cheaper one. And get a Wii as well. The great games are few, but they are REALLY worth it, and the Virtual Console is the best retro gaming download service on the market, and you'll get a lot of milage out of it. Plus, you'll still have the PC, which will be your main system.

PS3, Wii and PC is the best combination of systems to get.

You know the really perverse thing about this? I say, "Eff the PC I can get that for my 360. In fact, I don't have a PS3 because I don't really care for JRPGs anymore, and I can get most of the games for 360. Seriously, I looked at there top 10 exclusives and would only play four at best.

Also, Kingente power is what the forum had me type in to post this. It's cool I'm stealing it.

I myself own a PC, 360, and Wii, and find that I don't play the Wii nearly as often as my computer or xbox and in my opinion, they're all good systems, the Wii is a party system but has worse graphics, the 360 and the PS3 both have great graphics, have some party games, but are more oriented to single player or two player co-op (except in certain games.)

I would recommend a PS3 or a 360 since they both have a huge catalog of games that you'd probably enjoy, with a lot of them in bargain bins at your local gaming stores.

The PS3 isn't that expensive anymore, I'm probably going to pick one up while i'm working over the summer break so I can have access to any game I want to play.

[pc cost rant]
To everyone saying that PC gaming is to expencive, congrats on doing it wrong I guess? Seriously, how did someone spend 2000$ on a PC and trash it three years later? There is no possible way it was "cutting edge" if you already trashed it. Honestlly, I have a PC from 2000 that still runs most games and all it needed was a $50 video card... three years ago. No it can't run crysis at max but it will still run CoD and L4d and everything else fun.
[/rant]
With that little explosion out of the way, I would say ps2. That's the only Sony system I've ever liked and I've owned all three. PS3 is a big blu-ray plaer though so if you don't mind the lackluster games (no I didn't like Uncharted so shoot me) then at least you have that.

But really, you have the PC for yourself and the largest, most indepth and some of the best games ever made already on the ps2 so it's really up to you.

PC/PS3 combo is the best way to go.

To be frank: the 360 is dying. MS have hardly any exclusive studios, and the only one of note is Lionhead - which is hardly a big deal. Unless you really have the urge to play Gears of War, its really not worth it.

Personally my preference is (unfairly) in favour of the 360 or wii. I play them the most. But this is mostly due to not having bought any games for my PS3 yet.
