I wont use Origin. EA don't make games good enough for the hassle. Even Steam exclusives than I am interested in I mostly pass on, since I hate using Steam.

I think the main thing is that EA doesn't like to share their profits with other companies, & Steam gets a certain percentage of their sales on games. I hope it works out for EA, mainly because competition is a good thing in the retail business...and I don't like it if all my eggs are in one basket so to speak. Although a TF2/Old Republic promotional item for TF2 would have been pretty awesome, my Demo-Knight would have looked pretty sweet sporting a light saber.

Steam has had years and years of development. It's proven itself. Origin is new and hasn't proven itself yet. I'm not opposed to Origin, but I'd rather give it some time.

The only thing that would get me to jump on-board right away would be releases of System Shock and System Shock 2 with built in options to accommodate for higher resolutions than the original games did and widescreen monitors.

I usually order the games I play,I like collecting boxes so I'm not so much into the digital downloads so I'm indifferent to Steam and Origin.

Oooh, Origin. The download platform. I was thinking about Origin. You know, the company. Which EA swallowed. This one: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/issues/issue_14/87-The-Conquest-of-Origin

But really, I don't care. It's just another download (and match-making?) software, I have ten of those things installed on my computer, no idea why I should care about this one more.

I don't get why people are so against Origin. Shouldn't you be in favor of competition?

Can't argue with this. I looked at the EA vs Valve at one point and decided that even if steam started today I would still use it as they know how to treat customers right.

I once tried playing C+C4... you can imagine how that went!

The problem with the competition arguement is that EA must do something special and the biggest problem is they are hemmeraging goodwill from the Persistant online connection situation and now removing it from one of the biggest online markets out there.

Steam has not just built goodwill over time, they have a strategy that does not upset the customer. It might sound hard to believe but Steam is the best example of this:

They are giving a platform for Indie community. More importantly it gives support to the indie world this allows Steam a wider market that EA could never touch.

I have no problem with origin, EA can do whatever the fuck they like with it... so long as its not mandatory and the games are available on steam.

I'm a steam gamer plain and simple, steam is the best service out there, its where my friends are, its where my favourite games are, its where I have a couple of hundred games already. New platform = do not want.

its just stupid, why is gamin the only media that refuses any kind of standardization.... EA's origin is the first step towards a multitude of digital distribution sites, that in the end will be worse for the consumer... whatever happened to making it as easy as possible for the consumer?

if this trend continues every publisher will have their own digital distribution and we are the ones that aare going to have to sort through all that mess, instead of having the convenience of having all games on one site.

well I buy my games retail so BOTH are annoying thing tacked on

eather way I think EA may have bitten off more than it can chew..I mean the only reason gamer would use it is when they are FORCED to...not a good way to win over customers

I'll use Origin if it's the only way to get a game I really want, but I'd rather have nothing to do with it.

I'll probably use it in the short future.

Planning on playing SWToR, so that probably means Origin.

Will get DA2 digitally when I finish all the DA:O DLC (I'm slow and FO:NV keeps distracting me...) so that also means Origin.

And Bulletstorm is another title I'm looking at and it's a lot cheaper on Origin, so another reason there.

I'll see how it turns out....

Only when they change their EULA and TOS,I don't want EA to scan my PC and look at my personal stuff.

I don't mind it. I love steam, but getting worked up over it is worthless, its only a form of distribution. Its not like taking a few seconds to close one and open the other is going to kill your system.

Honestly. I buy retail regardless. Neither Steam or Origin are very good with launch day prices in comparison to retail.
