I mod it fairly quickly, I'll play it for an hour or so just to see what needs fixing or changing. So I tend to just install mods to fix problems or to mod out things I don't like. Then after that I'll just download graphical enhancing mods to make the game look prettier, Oblivion looked pretty good for its time, my Oblivion however still looks good by todays standards because I've got that many graphical mods installed haha.

The Fallout games I think were perfectly functional out of the box (New Vegas less so), so I held off a while before modding those, and in the end I just installed graphical mods, 'Fellout' being out of my favorites since it removes the horrible tinge of green from everything, and actually makes the night dark.. makes running around Old Olney at night very frightening.

I don't get Bethesda (or Obsidian, in the case of NV) games on release. Mostly due to having bugs up the arse. I generally wait a month or two and by then there's a fairly decent modding scene out with interesting stuff to look at.

So basically "Immediately after I buy it, but about 1-2 months after release."
