I have a PS3 and a 360. It's a bit silly seeing as my PS3 is mostly used for DVD and Blu Ray movies and to stream from my media library. The 360 gathers dust.

My PC reigns supreme.

But if I could only have one I'd go for the PS3, due to it being a lot better, more versatile, removable HDD and it plain looks better. But I still hate Sony with a passion for removing Other OS. They deserve all that they are getting for doing that.

Edit: I bought my PS3 in a moment of weakness when I was delirious and figured that I didn't want to bother to upgrade my crummy old PC. Needless to say, when I found out how bad most of the games are on it, and that they didn't include a file browser, I went and upgraded the PC.

On the rare occasion I bother to load up a game I can't help moaning about the graphics and bad UI that seems to be par for the course.

What is so wrong with owning more than one console if you play on a PC? It is called being a "gamer". I play tons of different genres over different systems. I'm not going to not play something just because it is on a different system...
I hope you didn't take the "die in hell if you own all platforms" bit of my post seriously. It was a joke. But yeah, I couldn't agree more. I personally prefer the controller when playing arcade flight sims and racing. And because I'm familiar with both the k&M setup (for RTS and anything that says 'shooting') and the controller, I believe I'm a more proficient gamer.

Easily PS3, so much less of a douchebag magnet. Also because I already own a PS3 (used to have 4 360's but every one of them shit out on me so I have little faith in the system).

Well, I already have a PS3 and a 360, but my PS3 sees a hell of a lot more use these days, so that's my console of choice anyway.

For me it's definitely the PS3. It's my blueray player and also it works great as a media streaming device. Basically I have tons of movies on my PC, and I can play them on my PS3 which is hooked up to the 40" HDTV and a 5.1 surround sound system. Works great! Well, usually... unfortunately PS3 doesn't like certain file formats or files that are too large. Fuck Sony for removing Other OS! AFAIK with Linux I could easily have more codec support. So I heard, anyway. Still, works well enough and I can use Handbrake to convert the movies that don't work or burn them on a DVD.

I was a PC gamer, and I migrated to the Xbox. I've not looked back since, except to play a bit of RA2 when the mood strikes me.

I wouldn't buy a console at all, I hate the controllers with a passion. Unless there's a console you can attach a mouse & keyboard to, and most of it's games will support it.
It's interesting that you should say this, as I have the opposite view. The last time I played a PC game, I actually hooked my PS3 controller up to the computer to make it comfortable. To me, playing with a keyboard and mouse is not only incredibly un-ergonomic, but it makes me feel like I'm 'playing' Microsoft Excel. =)

I guess it's a question of what you're used to. I've been using a mouse & keyboard for twenty two years, since my first Amiga in 1989. Whenever I've tried to use a console controller, after fifteen minutes or so my hands start to cramp up and they start aching quite a lot after another fifteen. Besides, I suck at games when I use one. :p

As a PC gamer, I already invest most of my gaming time into games that are already on Microsoft systems. The only thing I can't actually play that isn't on an Xbox already are the exclusives. What bold titles am I missing out on? Let's see... the Halo series... Fable... Alan Wake... Gears of War... Actually, I probably wouldn't even consider playing that, or Halo for that matter. So I'm not exactly missing out on much on this side of the console war.

Gotta go with the opportunity of variety. PS3 it is.

I bought a xbox 360 for about 2yrs ago and the only game I've played on it is Tekken 6.... So I kinda regret buying that piece of shit.

It's not about the money for me, I believe in a free open platform that doesn't dictate me what I can and can not do with my software or what I can and cannot watch, doesn't want to make me pay for simple online gaming etc. or tries to make me obey "their rules" in exchange for using their service. It also has a lot of alternatives to things to play like some free/cheap Indie games that are great, lots and lots of Mods and even facelifts or bugfixes for old favorites years later by dedicated fans... hell I spent 550? (that's around 750$) for a graphics card alone a few years ago.

I just don't need/want a console based on principles and besides any PC works fine as a console... just hook up a Wireless X360 controller and a TV or the Wiimote using Dolphin and you'll be able to play your games with new incredible details at a much higher resolution. If I totally HAD to choose one though it'd probably be the PS3...
That's largely my feeling, too. I like that I can do anything I want with my computer, and I can play new games or old games, the way they came or altered however I want them. With emulators, I can play stuff from everything from my old VIC-20 to the Wii on the same computer without even having to get up and swap cartridges/discs. There are tons of mods and patches to change or fix things, and if there isn't something to do what I want already, I can make it myself if I really want. I have a BD-ROM drive in there, too, so there goes another console advantage, too.

One big difference, though, is that it is also about price for me. My entire computer cost less than your video card but still runs current-gen cross-platform games better than the console versions do, and I can get the games cheaper, too. Thanks to stuff like Steam's evil, evil sales, I rarely spend over $10 on a game. I probably spend about the same amount total on games per year as I used to when I also played a decent number of console games, but now I get about fives times as many games for that amount.

I've nearly forgotten my Wii exists, not because I don't like the games on it, but because I've been drowning in a sea of cheap PC games while waiting years for the Wii ones I want to drop enough in price to be worth my time. I'm sure I'd really like something like SMG2, because the first one was amazing, but for the $40-50 it usually sells for I can get at least half a dozen PC games. Not all of them will be nearly as good, but even if only one of them is and the others are merely ok, I still come out massively ahead in terms of value for my money.

Thinking of getting a PS3...GT5 + DW6 sounds like a good reason for me (might as well try Dark Souls when it comes out, see what all the hype is about).

360, simply because most of my friends have one.
Those who have a PS3 aswell only see that as a very expensive BBC iPlayer and soloing gaming console.
Gaming nowadays does tend to be more multiplayer orientated and the 360 does that extremely well.

As for the Console Gamer/PC Gamer terminology, I prefer to be simply called a Gamer.
