PS3, probably - I only use my console for racing games and co-op gaming, girlfriend uses them for sports games, none of which the 360 does better.

Pancakes i guess, because the money for a console would be better spent on art supplies, printer costs, paper, a wide format scanner, or some Warhammer models to paint.

I've been thinking of getting a ps3 actually, I think my hatred for the 360 is a big part of that preference, I shouldn't say that I hate the 360, I just hate the stereotypical halo gears of war player, not a demographic I want to be a part of.

I wouldn't buy a console at all, I hate the controllers with a passion. Unless there's a console you can attach a mouse & keyboard to, and most of it's games will support it.
It's interesting that you should say this, as I have the opposite view. The last time I played a PC game, I actually hooked my PS3 controller up to the computer to make it comfortable. To me, playing with a keyboard and mouse is not only incredibly un-ergonomic, but it makes me feel like I'm 'playing' Microsoft Excel. =)
I guess it's a question of what you're used to. I've been using a mouse & keyboard for twenty two years, since my first Amiga in 1989. Whenever I've tried to use a console controller, after fifteen minutes or so my hands start to cramp up and they start aching quite a lot after another fifteen. Besides, I suck at games when I use one. :p
What you're accustomed to is a very powerful thing. Funnily enough, I started out life as a PC gamer by default I suppose, (*sigh* lemmings and lode runner and zork...), but I could never get truly comfortable with a mouse and keyboard when it came to more complicated games. Technically my early experience should probably have made adjusting to consoles harder (I didn't get a console til the ps2! I also agree with hand cramp, but only in the case of the *shudder* PSP), but somehow it was the reverse. Controllers were something I clicked with instantly - they felt more organic I guess.

I will freely acknowledge, however, that some games suit controllers better than others. RTS plus controller? Urgh.

PS3, cause my friends own one, my dad has a better shine to sony.
Also, I owned PS1 and PS2 so I guess I'm a little biased on my side but hey, Left 4 Dead 2 isn't going anywhere near the PS3 and Heavy Rain isn't going anywhere near the PC.
Plus you can plug in your xbox controller in the PC, how about that?

Nintendo Wii. I say this because most everything else has a PC release so I can cover the whole spectrum of games with those two platforms. Most of the PS3/XBOX360 exclusives are of no interest to me.

PS3, of course. 360 has far fewer exclusives that interest me, while PS3 has a ton. Also, Blu-ray, which I don't have in any shape or form right now.

Are we talking about any console or are we strictly limited to this generation of consoles?

If the former, then I would probably go with a PS2 and/or a SNES. Both of them have a very rich library of games and the PS2 is also backward compatible with PS1 games. Infact, if finances will allow it, I will probably buy myself a PS2 this year since it is quite cheap nowadays (and you can still get it brand new!).

If the latter, however, I would probably go with a Wii. I don't find any of the PS3/360 exclusives particularly compelling and whatever interesting games they do have tend to be the kind of games that I would rather play on a PC anyway. Meanwhile, the Wii has some good titles, some of which are really the kind that are best experienced on a console. Plus, it has a lot of 2D platformers (which I have a soft spot for) and is backwards compatible with GameCube games.

But anyway, I already supplement my PC with handhelds. I love my Game Boy Micro. =)
