I like my gaming PC, because it's mostly made of metal and I find that hardcore. (???)

Apparently the new MacBook pros have their RAM soldered to the motherboard.

So yeah, fuck those guys.
WTH?! That's just ridiculous! I mean there's being a closed system and then there's that. You could replace it before, why suddenly stop you?

Huum well To all u people out there heres a thought i recently had a convrsation about this to some owner of a company he was letting me know about him buying a new computer i said why not mac n he said "What most people dont understand about this pc vs mac wars is one thing u forget that the majority of Businesses work of a pc so for me to buy a higly expensive computer in which i will not be able to work with other because of the software differences is just plain stupid. (laughed my ass of by this point), so true a PC is bettr in the sense that it is more universal and this is an age were we are being united by technology to buy a mac is like being cut off from the MAJORITY of the world. " so that made me think since i need a new computer but was wanting to change to mac but he was right i dont know what the future holds but i do know that it will include PC specially business wise since there more economic and stuff. So yes i want a mac cuz of all the I stuff BUT its not wise for me to do so since i mingle with different businesses and i do alot of people sharing n the majority have PC so

What will u pick?

Me il stay with PC nad who knows maybe ill buy both just cuz 1 at a time though

So i guess im a PCMac
Hahahahaha

To stop you from buying 8GB for £40 off amazon instead of buying it from Apple who charge about £160.
Fuck that noise! That's a dick move if I ever heard one

Yeah, the new Macbooks are the least repairable laptops ever. The RAM is soldered onto the board, and the SSD uses a new Apple proprietary interface to the motherboard so you can't upgrade or replace it yourself. Literally the only thing the new Macbooks have going for them is the ultra high resolution displays, which only introduces other problems like the MacBook not having enough GPU horsepower to drive 3D applications at those resolutions, and making the Internet look like shit because website assets are not made for ultra high res displays like that.

So yeah, the new MacBook just gives me more reason to hate Apple even more.

Windows
Mac is over priced (it,s illegal and close to impossible to run Mac OSx on a "normal" PC) and has horrible software support
I also like the ability to upgrade/repair my own stuff instead of everything using proprietary connectors.
although I do like the Mac G5 case.

There is no logical reason to go with Macs.

This is coming from someone who typically has to use them on a daily basis (career).
There is now, if you want that gorgeous 2880x1800 display

just get a TV it,s probably cheaper then a Mac machine and works with regular computers.

I'm a Mac user. My family are all Mac users. I used to be a PC user, being a gamer and all. Then I noticed that my PC barely lasted a year before shitting itself and dying while my family's Mac just kept going and going. We have great luck with Apple products, better than any other technology we've owned.
So Macs are better due to your inability to use a PC?
Nah mate, not saying that. And the PC was about the same price range as my family's Mac (can't remember exactly, it was a few years ago). I don't go into the whole Mac vs PC argument. I'm just saying I have more luck with Macs, so I use them.

At 16:10? No thanks.

Besides, while Apple's only major bonus is their monitors, I'd rather save a few thousand quid and get a high-end IPS panel that outperforms it and doesn't have that disgusting and obtrusive gloss all over it. Yeah, I know they can have an anti-glare upgrade, but that's just going in circles.

I've seen quite a few people in this thread say that Macs are easier to use - does anyone have a specific example? It might just be that I grew up on Windows, but after having had a Macbook in the house for 2 years now (not mine, but I still use it a fair bit), I can't think of anything on a Mac that is easier to use than a Windows counterpart, and many many things that work much worse.

I always prefer Windows, in case you didn't gather.

The way Windows runs always seems far more logical than with the Mac. And I can't shake the feeling that Apple are deliberately making each OS for the Macbook worse than the previous one... Case in point, under Snow Leopard (the previous OS), using the switch between windows command brought up all of your windows in a nice grid, so you could see what each one was, and switch to it. There was also a nice feature where you could choose which programs would show up when you use the switch between windows function, and quickly switch between different groups of these, all arranged in a nice grid. Under Lion (the current OS), using the switch between windows command brings up every program that you have open, but all of the windows within an individual program overlap each other, so if you have more than about 3 windows of any given program, it becomes nigh on impossible to tell what each window is.

Got loads of other issues about Macs too but this'll do for one post.

All that said, I am thinking of getting a Macbook for uni work (I'll be doing illustration), my thinking being that I'll need a laptop either way, and there must be some reason why absolutely every art related person ever uses them :/
