PC anyday. mods and better performance and easily upgradable parts makes it a better choice in the long run. Consoles have the performance advantage at launch, but PC's soon advance further because of upgrades. Also if your pc breaks, you can replace the faulty part, if your console breaks you have to replace the whole thing

I'd argue that PC is better, but the standardization of consoles has its advantages too.

Thus, I vote "A stick with a Rock attached".

Max life of an average console? 2-4 years. PC 6-8. As Willsor said

Depends which part breaks on the PC as to which replacement would cost less.

Well unless you have a super top of the range system, then generally a replacement will still cost less than replacing your console. Even then, you won't replace, you'll get a better part, so it's like an upgrade.

Console

I don't have the expertise to upgrade my PC on the cheap. Consoles are hence cheaper for me and i also like the standardization.

Anything a console can do, a PC can do better.

If you don't want to shovel hundreds of dollars into a giant metallic mouth or try to figure out how to install a new motherboard or deal with nail-bitingly frustrating problems that come with PCs, a console just lets you play things in a neat, convenient little package.

There are a couple more things to it, though. For example, to be a game developer on the PC, all you really need to do is learn some programming or do some flash work. SDKs and map editors also make modding an experience almost completely exclusive to the PC. On consoles, this would be a lot more complicated, and the level editors there tend to suck. PCs have the tools for an indie gamer.

Perhaps this argument would have made more sense back in the day, when the hardware for gaming consoles and computers were fundamentally different. Nowadays, consoles are nothing but specialized computers. These days, it's pretty obvious the pros and cons of PCs and consoles.
