I'm not going to debate PCs and Consoles in general, because that is a tad more complex, and I feel having both is optimal, but just in controlling FPSs, which is greatest? I have been playing FPSs on PCs since I started playing them, because the control that a mouse gives is just superior, but I want to know what you think.

The PC, in my opinion.
And I'm a console gamer. I have seen my friends do things in PC FPSes that I have seen no one else do on a console. PC gamers are like ninjas when it comes to reflexes.

A shooter on the PC may be more precise, but I've found playing a shooter on a console to be more relaxing. Just personal taste.

PCs for me, and I imagine for everyone should they give each control method reasonable practice.

First of all, expect a huge flame war in moments, followed by a timely lock and probations handed out to the more rowdy people.

Second of all, PCs are better for FPS in my opinion. I've played FPS games on both PCs and PS2 (which despite being old generation and all, is still a console) and I'll have to say I would never want to give up mouse when it comes to shooting things.

Playing an FPS on consoles was always too much like playing Doom 1&2 to me, where you just turn and don't have to aim much. Sticky aiming in many games doesn't exactly help dispell that feeling, either.

PC FPS are all about reflexes and insightful movements. Console FPS are all about... I don't know. I've only had a chance to play a few of the new generation FPS games on consoles, and I can't say I liked the experience too much. Sure, it's fun, but I'd rather have 'board and mouse, any day.

I like that "PCS!!!!!!!!!!" gets more gratuitous exclamation points than "CONSOLES!!!!" does. It somehow seems appropriate.

Also, I kind of wish I could have a mouse to aim and a thumb stick for movement. That would be the best of both combined.

PC the mouse is way more accurate and faster.
Also I heard that consoles uses some sort of helping system to aim if that is true then all those people are cheaters and they better shut up. Try using similar program on any PC shooter online you gonna get banned in few seconds for cheating.

Eek, dare we try to discuss this?

I'm all for console based FPSing, having done plenty of both. Mostly because the unified control input (everyone uses the xbox (or whichever) controller)) and hardware makes it a little more fair. I also like how the limited look speed makes turning a full 180 a little slower. I don't like how on PC players can spin really really fast (though, in all fairness, where would we be without quake and the like, in which such maneuvers are essential).

I've always preferred Console shooters. Axis controls just make sense to me in the context of aiming and shooting. On PCs I prefer my big, bad MMOs with the zillion-and-one buttons. When the only button I need to know is "shoot", though, I'd rather have a controller.

EDIT: Plus, and this may just be me being paranoid, I feel like PC gamers are more able and more willing to cheat/hack.

I prefer PC controls for first person shooters. I will take my mouse over an analog stick any day of the week.
Although as some people have mentioned with the consoles you get a generally level playing field. I'm using a Logitech G5 high grade gaming mouse, so it is much more accurate and responsive than a regular mouse. Which in theory could give me an advantage in a shooter, but I almost never play online so that doesn't really matter.

i tend to differ from game to game really, some games i love the smoothness and easy-ness of my good ole controllers, while sometimes like on left 4 dead, i love having the precision of the mouse to really take a beating to the computer/other people, if you have skill with a mouse there is really that much of a difference to give you the edge

hopefully someday soon i can figure out a way to game comfortably while doing pc fps's tho, i have not found a single comfortable position and its really egging at me in the back of my mind everytime i play for more than a half hour
