I did a search on personal signatures and all I found was a thread about Gears of War 2.

A signature is a little quote or graphics at the bottom of every post that can be a saying, joke or as I have seen on other forums a lightsabre or link.

Personally mines would be quote from Harold & Kumar go to White Castle.

"Pookie Come On! Let's Burn This Fucker Down!"

And I like to throw random things in the poll for fun.

The escapist has some very good reasons for not allowing a signiature, I just can't remember them.

You can set one in your profile, however, and it will work on the Warcry forums (Your account also works there)

I kinda wish they had them, then you could end every post with,

Sincerely, Shapsters.

But I am sure there is a good reason for the lack of signatures.

Fuck no, I hate signatures a novelty and one that quickly becomes tiresome after you have read a frequent poster's several hundred times.

I prefer having an avatar and profile page thank you very much.

It seems some people here have just gone around it and do it anyways, I know I've seen at least a few people who do it.

It doesn't look good and it clutters the forum (and YES, that was a personal opinion, not a fact).

It's especially annoying when the signature is bigger than the actual post, since it then becomes near impossible to read.

I voted Star Trek (just to be weird). As for my actual opinion, I don't think we should. I've seen another forum with things like signatures, and more complicaed posting systems, and it looks cluttered and confuses me. I like the simplicity of the Escapists, it's neat and tidy and yet all the people are lovely and have a basic level of intelligence.

No. I do generally like signatures and at first I was angry that the Escapist doesn't allow them. It seemed like a pointless thing to forbid.

But once I found out the reason why signatures aren't allowed, I realized it was a good one. As has been mentioned, it makes forums cluttered and wastes space. The forums look much neater and nicer like this.

Ya, I agree, I quite like them, but the Escapists would look a lot more cluttered. What is the real reason I must ask, is there a specific reason?

Maybe, but there really should be a limit to how big it could be, or how many characters it could contain. NO pictures. It's cool to begin with when people have banner signatures or something like that, but it just ends up being in the way of reading the damn threads when it gets out of hand. I think a short personal sentence would be fine, if it was limited to that.

Kind of makes the poll null and void though... Anyway, I prefer the lack of signatures, as I think they clutter up the pages, and most are just eyesores.

No. God no. Cluttered, fugly. It seems some people like to include a signature despite this, and I have to say it is chuckleworthy. Especially when it's no different than their username.

I dislike signatures, but I dislike people who write their signatures in each post even more. I don't know why, but I can't stand people who end each post (especially like 3 times a page on a thread) with --(insert name here).

I think that signatures would work if you were only allowed 1 line of text. No BB Code or HTML. If it was bigger it would probably make the forums appear cluttered.

The only way I could see it working is a small quote under the badges. Otherwise no as it would get cluttered, annoying and generally more bad than good.
