I would do it in a heartbeat.

While many want to take the moral highground, everything this bastard has done to his cult and those who died makes it only fair to give him a little payback.

Plus, like many who watch his actions, if he says on his death bed "I did it for the lolz", I'm joining the WBC.

I say we formally attend his funeral, condolencing his family with their loss, clothed in pink suits and sporting "its okay to be gay" badges and whatnot.

and when the funeral ends we hold a parade and not mention him again.

I like the OP's thoughts on this matter, but I think the logical thing still is to picket. First of all, it would be a hard opportunity to pass up merely on principle. Secondly, though the WBC are crazy, there is a chance that just one of them could learn something or gain a new insight. If there is even one infinitesimally small chance of that happening, I'd still say go for it. There isn't a damn thing that we could try that IS rational that will work on them. I don't know if that's fire with fire or monsters with monsters, but it can't hurt to try now.

God Hates Bigots? It is very tempting to want to see it happen isn't it? I think you are right though you don't want to stoop to their level. I would be so nice if Jed Bartlett was real wouldn't it?
HOLY SHIT that was awesome... also, see what I did thar? :3

Apart from it being childish copycat behaviour this act would only signify the notion that these retards made an impact on our lives and the world.

My instant reaction is to say no because people shouldn't stoop to their level but I hate people like this never having to deal with any payback. The best thing people could do is just 100% ignore it. No mention of his passing anywhere. That would annoy them more than anything.
This, WBC are trolls pure and simple, if we don't feed them they'll eventually stop bugging us.

There's a part of me that really wants to say yes, we should do this, but then there's the part of me that says, like a lot of others have, that stooping to their level is somehow validating them or something... as if because we've used their methods, that makes them right or powerful or something like that. So I say... that we shouldn't do what they do. We should do something different. Perhaps simply go in our masses, surround the thing and stand completely still and silent. I don't know. The emotional side of me feels that something needs to be done though.

I'm with many people here in that my initial reaction was: "Yes!"

But then I engaged my brain (the coffee takes a while to kick in) and realised I'd just be as bad as them if I did.

Mind you, if someone were to take a dump on his grave, I wouldn't shed any tears!

Why bother? The guy won't care, what with being dead and all.

If you want to insult a person, just go for the greatest insult of all: ignore him and forget him.

I wouldn't lower myself to their level by picketing his funeral, personally i think the best thing to do with them is just ignore them until they go away

Kill it with fi... nah too mean.

I'm gonna go with the satirical side of the argument. Make it so that people get their lulz on, while the fuckers at WBC scowl and feel like utter shit.

Revenge is a dish, best served funny.

It's all well and good saying that we should take the moral high ground and ignore WBC, but nobody is. When this thing that passes itself as a man dies it'll be all over the news, with protesters at their funeral laughing it up and people in the street being interviewed and saying "good riddance".
Then we forget about WBC until they do something else offensive.
Taking the high ground in this scenario is just doing nothing. I fully support anyone who pickets the funeral of that horrible old miser and hope it causes at least some emotional pain to those cultists. Maybe it'll make one of them question what they're doing, which is great because WBC kick you out if you don't fully agree with them, forcing that person to either become a person (with empathy and everything!) or live alone in the world without any friends or loved ones.
WBC wants it to be "them vs the world" let 'em have it. They're gonna piss somebody off enough to warrant a buckshot sandwich soon enough anyway, it's just a waiting game.

As homer once said: "Can't someone else do it?".
I would probably laugh if someone else done it but I wouldn't want to do it myself. Though I must say no matter who does it and what for picketing the funerals should be a crime.

I said yes just for the delicious irony. But in reality probably not, a human died, sure he was a dick but he's dead now and I respect the dead even if they don't.

I wouldn't go out of my way to do it, but if I just happened to be walking by the cemetery or church or whatever and found out about it, I'd probably chuck a rotten tomato at 'em or something.

I vote plan C: Find him, while he's alive, and tell him what a despicable person he is. Tell him you hope there is a hell so he can suffer.

That, or break his fucking knees. Either or.
