I wouldn't play it just because it would make it too hard to relate to the character. I liked Mass Effect 2's character because me and him had the same desires (getting either Kelly Chambers or Miranda Lawson in bed, I got the latter). Playing a gay character would remove any romance from the game as I'd still be trying to get the girls and if that's not an option then my character will die a virgin.

Not really, I would only get uncomfortable with the idea if there were sex scenes in it, otherwise I'm alright with the character.

I want for 'only if there's a gay love intrest', but mainly because I'm kinda creeped out in all games that have a love intrest. I mean, am I supposed to like this character too? Why can't I make my own choice of who my character wants to bang? And usually why do I have to care when they die at the end of the game?

it depends. if its a hardcore shooter or something it probably wont come up, if its a rpg and its a very prominant thing, it would be slightly uncomfortable for me. however, if he is just a ridiculous flaming stereotype i would have alot of fun. however, if any of it involved getting physical i would not play it. it scared the crap out of me when zevrahn started hitting on me in dragon age.

Would playing as a gay protagonist bother you? What if the game included a homosexual love interest? If you're okay with that, to what degree are you comfortable with? And lastly, should we be made to feel a little uncomfortable even against our will to make a point, or for the sake of atmosphere/tension etc?
Well since most games don't really depict any form of sexual interest in the main character, it would be a bit strange. I like games that give you choices.

Well if it were making an issue out of it for the sake of it, that'd be annoying, since most video games don't really focus on character's romantic lives at all. However if it was simply a part of the character's backstory, or pertinent to the story itself, then yeah definitely. There should be more of it, and definitely the option to do so if the game gives you a choice in partner. And no, physical scenes wouldn't make me uncomfortable unless they would be explicit, and if it were heterosexual that'd bug me just as much.

Not gonna lie, if they are the fluttery sorta gay, I would become annoyed depending on the amount of dialog.

But if it's a good game, I wouldn't care who the main character is.

It doesn't bother me at all, but only if the character wasn't a stereotype, like in other forms of media.

so long as its a fun game, the main character could be into animals for all I care.
That would be hilarious. I'd totally play a game where the main character is into animals, or if they have some other crazy weird fetish that you'd have to satisfy every once in while or else they become completely uncooperative.

It'd be cool to play as a homosexual character.
In the same sense that women are just as fun to play.
Stating that a main character is male is about as common as saying it comes in a CD-ROM form.
If the main character happens to be a girl, she is either
Lara Croft or
Rubi-thing
Emotions are for pussies; I can be a man, too ect., ect.
A homo character would be a refreshing change, but not if said character falls into the aforementioned stereotypes.

I'm bi. The only manner in which it could bother me is under circumstances where it would also bother me were the character straight.
um.. not trying to be insulting but does kinda stand for like alot of games?
I do get a little uncomfortable with sexual content on occasion, so if I'm properly interpreting your question, then yes. It does stand for a lot of games. However, I can usually warm up to the presence of sexual content, especially where it seems contextually appropriate, and in this regard it doesn't much matter to me the sex combinations involved. Though, and in this manner I conform to stereotype, I find lesbian congress, on average, more titillating than other combinations.
Honestly, though, I'm just as apt to feel that sexual content in the story arc of most games is strange and contextually inappropriate. Mass Effect, for example: The story is too short, the circumstances insufficient, for me to feel the sexual dynamic of the characters. This is, thankfully, noted by the characters themselves. They, too, feel it's going pretty fast.
Anyway, as with violence, this is something that can be done artfully or poorly. Or even borishly.

Does that answer your question?
