I am disappointed by the lack of polar bear in this thread.
Sorry Bryght, but the polar bear is old hat.

These days the only giant carnivorous land mammal that matters is the grolar bear [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grizzly%E2%80%93polar_bear_hybrid].

I can't think of many melee weapons that you can't improve by attatching it to the end of a pole.

It's a shame that a lot of games don't feature polearms as a weapon choice. For me one of the failings of Dragon Age was a bizarre lack of polearms in that medieval world, which was one of the main reason I restarted the game many times trying to find a character build that I liked... but if I'd been able to weild a Halberd I would have probably stuck with my original Human Noble and have completed the game.

Never mind, Mount & Blade and the Dynsasty Warriors games have polearms a plenty, which is probably why I've spent more hours in those games killing dudes with poles than all my other games combined.

I also loved how in True Crime: NY, once you leared the Chinese Staff fighting style you could weild any pole like a pro, not just weapons but objects like parking meaters and broken lamp posts.

A poll about poles? Why do I feel the sudden urge to post a pic of Xzibit right here?

Bah, moving onto topic, I would certainly like to express my opinion about poles, as my local city hall certainly isn't allowing me the chance to express my displeasure at the fact those damn, bloody telephone poles keep jumping into my way whenever I'm on my bike. It's sheer madness I say!

I like my poles tall and sturdy.

So that way, when I hang a big and heavy on it, it doesn't break and cause a load of pain brought about by property damage.

I've never been to Poland, so I can't comment. I did have a very brief conversation in a pub with a Polish man about the sin of microwaved pirogies.

I think my favourite pole is the magnetic monopole. It'll be lovely when it gets over it's self-esteem issues. It's not it's fault that it's fat.
