The whole Batman:TAS continuity(TAS, Adventures Of Batman & Robin, New Batman Adventures, and Batman Beyond) is EASILY the definitive Batman.

Batman Beyond is especially impressive. They almost had to build that whole show from scratch and they freakin' NAILED IT.
Terry McGinnis is the worthiest successor to the mantle of the Batman they could ever create.

Hell, they even make Batman one of the most awesome heroes in DCAU's JL/JLU.

No one will ever be a better Batman or Joker than Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill.

The Animated series is by far the best adaptation in my opinion. It's Action-packed, suspenseful, dark, and even funny at times. It just does everything right.

I especially love how they handled Harvey Dent and his transformation into Two-Face.

And lest we forget, the animated series gave us the incomparable Harley Quinn. That would be a default win even without all the other awesomeness.

I liked it a little better before it made the switch to the New Batman Adventures. The writing was still exceptional, but they changed the animation to sync up with the rest of the DCAU. The original animation had this very dark, film noir style to it which I absolutely loved.

But one of the greatest contributions was Mark Hamill as the Joker. Heath Ledger was a good actor, and did well in the Dark Knight (even if I don't really care for the movie or how they portrayed the character), but he's not who you think of when you picture The Joker. When you read The Killing Joke, or A Serious House on Serious Earth. Ledger's isn't the voice you hear. It will Always be Mark Hamill. The Ledger Joker was an interesting interpretation, but The Animated Series Joker is an icon

I appreciated the Batman Keaton "created" most because he was dark and at war with himself, making a complex character you can somewhat sympathize with. Christian Bale was more attractive to me, though. Val Kilmer also didn't do BAD, but I think that movie sorta threw off who Two-Face and the Riddler were as far as villains went.

As far as villains go, it varies. I LOVE Rocksteady's rendition of the Riddler, (Mr. Freeze) and the Penguin. Mark Hamill and Heath Ledger were definitely the best Jokers. I like Mr. Freeze and Harley Quinn from TAS best and Nolan had the best Two-Face.

And Batman and Robin was definitely the worst interpretation of Batman and Mr. Freeze. OOOOH, THAT'S COLD.

What the balls? No comic book continuities?
I would say the Batman comic series, or more specifically Batman: Year One , because it's a
re-imagining of the original golden age batman in the Detective Comics series, but there's no option for that or The Dark Knight Returns, so Batmite.
No wait, Bat-baby. All you get is Bat-baby.
Edit: OH SHIT! BATMAN: YEAR ONE ANIMATED ADAPTION AND BATMAN BRAVE AND THE BOLD DARK KNIGHT RETURNS REFERENCE! I LOVE EVERYTHING!
