I was curious to see how many people there are on the Escapist that believe in there being a species of bipedal apes living in northern U.S and Canada.

No.

I killed them all during a zombie outbreak.

The last one said that they don't eat babies, but I didn't believe it, them's sasquatches be cunning they does.

No. If there was one, it would die out eventually for lack of a sexual partner.
And if there was more than one, the woods would be swarming with them, because they would fill an evolutionary niche and explode in population.

Seems unlikely that in places humans frequent there would be many species bigger than humans hanging around that are not officially discovered and evidence for them is sketchy and anecdotal. There may have been cases of similar things happening, but honestly, I doubt Sasquatch(s) is(are) real. Yetis, however...

The legends do go back quite a ways so it may be possible that there was once such a species living in America. That being said, it would be incredibly difficult for the species to survive these days so I'm very skeptical. I say maybe.

Uhh, there are many species of bipedal apes living in the northern U.S. and Canada. Humans for one, zoo and research animals for two.

Also, ape is a formal biological classification. Who's to say it isn't a large bipedal New World monkey? We've never been able to formally fit bigfoots (bigfeet?) into taxonomy because they don't exist. It's like saying a unicorn is an equine or a sphinx is a feline.

Nope, it doesn't exist.
You don't have any evidense. I need to die at some point so why can't we find any remains, or even ape shit?
I know, I said ape shit.
They don't exist.

Unless you can show me evidence of it, I'm going with no. I wanted to say maybe, but the likelihood that a giant man-ape thing could just live undiscovered in the forest is unlikely. You'd figure there would be some solid evidence. A dead body of one perhaps?

Pretty much this. Considering that a Sasquatch would have no natural predator, there's no reason to believe that they wouldn't number in the hundreds or thousands. And in that case, they would be stumbled upon by humans on a regular basis.

Think of deer. There are few natural predators, so we are forced to hunt them to maintain a healthy population. If we didn't, the animals as a whole would suffer due to starvation and we'd probably be hitting them in our cars a lot more as they desperately searched for food.

I'm of the opinion that they do exist. As a resident of the Pacific Northwest (I live in Washington), I can tell you that with the amount of dense forest (somewhere in the range of 35-45% of the state), a large intelligent animal could go undetected for a long time without a human coming across it, purely because there is so much area in which to hide. Also, due to the nature of scavengers, a corpse wouldn't last longer than a few days

Not only that, but Native Americans have legends of apelike creatures going back hundreds of years. It could be I believe because I think it would be really cool if Sasquatch is real, but damn it, I believe.

No, I don't. But if they are, then cool. Power to ya!

I find it hard to believe that a large species of ape-like creatures can be living in the northern US and Canada since Native American times and leave no remains.

Or maybe they eat their dead? Like bones and all?

He lives extremly high up where human exploration is low, and the people who do go up there are halucinating from oxygen deprevation by then, so it could be possible for him to evade detection this long, the white for helps too

I don't think the sasquatch is real, but that doesn't mean that I've dismissed it as a possibility.

There are things that are possible, plausible, and implausible; but the trick is that none of these things are impossible.

People have been hunting for them for decades. With modern technology, an army of crazed believers and the spotlight of the media, there is no reason that they haven't been discovered (I'm talking decent evidence, not a grainy photo).

Same with Nessy. They used advanced sonar equipment to scan the Loch for different densities (which would mean either a large creature or a cave said large creature could shelter in). They found nothing. The Loch is empty (apart from the fish and other creatures).

There is no conclusive proof, and the lack of evidence speaks for itself. therefore I do not beleive there is a "sasquatch" (God I hate saying that name. Not sure why)

If I believed in everything people claim is real without any proof then... well, I'd probably go insane or something. I'd believe in millions of different deities, that the world is both shrinking and growing, that pretty much everything I do will cause me both good luck and bad luck, all kinds of things. I'd also believe that Sasquatches not only exist, but that they were many different creatures and species at the same time, from mere bipedal apes to mystically powered shaman cannibals that come to eat your children if you say their name.

I'm not saying they definitely don't exist, but it seems pretty damn unlikely, and all I have to go on is rumour and hearsay.

I just don't see why people would try and pretend that they saw Sasquatch. I also don't understand how stuff like this can stay so secret. So, I figure the best thing I can do is just not care.

If they existed, we'd sure to have some sort of evidence. I mean, huge apes walking around? Pretty hard to miss.

Yeah sure, in the country known for media whoring.

If Americans can't find it, it doesn't exist.
