Poll: Poll: Have you been perma-banned from websites?

So I've got an interesting little question for the Escapists; how many of you have been naughty enough to get perma-banned from websites before?

It can be for any reason, but you don't have to admit why if you don't want to.

Personally, I've gotten the boot from three;

Halo Waypoint
League of Legends
IMGUR

Halo Waypoint was the first, and A LOT of people got perma-d because prior to the release of Halo 4 when people were criticizing 343's obvious and insane stupidity, the mods went nuts and banned a whole crap ton of the most vocal critics, myself included - for completely random things like how things were worded or just being anything less than pleasant with anyone.

League of Legends was the second and remains the most absurd; I and many other users got banned for using the fanart section to post fanart of the characters and it was called too lewd even though we provided ACTUAL in-game Riot made examples of things exactly as bad. I finally got the boot, for ironically enough, posting concept art made by one of Riot's own artists of Ahri, Vi and Elise.

IMGUR...well, I was a veteran of the GIF Wars and the NSFW wars there and Sarah's new attitude towards the mature filter and "lewd content" and letting the mod's mod completely decide what was allowed and what was not finally got me overkilled; shadowbanned, permabanned AND apparently got IP banned too.

Never been in trouble for being anything derogatory or mean or anything disgusting though.

Then again, this is the only website that I frequently visit so if I did get banned, I'd be super bummed and have no where else to go...

I've come close here on occasion back when the mods were really liberal and if you expressed a conservative viewpoint you got in deep trouble. I did get banned from the Escapist's minecraft server and I think that's it. Apparently I was making other players uncomfortable with how I talked.

Once, and not for typical reasons. It had a lot to do with personal BS and internet drama and people changing the rules of their site based on their opinions and feelings and not actually following the rules themselves outside of when it pertained to me. With regards to this topic, no, not really. I tend to behave myself and follow the rules and in most real sites that are visited by more than 5 people the rules tend to always apply.

I've only been banned from OperationSports because it's frowned upon to make threads exposing broken mechanics in the games since devs do actually post there. MLB The Show had broken hitting all the way from its start 05 until 11. 12 was the best the series has ever been. After taking a few years off as baseball games are a huge time commitment, I tried last year's game and the hitting was broken again but for different reasons, the bat-ball physics were off to where you'd pull pitches your're late on. I literally pitched games on the highest difficulty throwing nothing but inside fastballs showing not even the CPU could hit them because if you time the swing properly, it's pulled foul and if you swing late, you get jammed.

I don't know man, Halo Waypoint is a cesspool. Given what they allow there, I'm doubtful of anyone who claims they got banned without really pushing it.

The Guardian, for daring to question the narrative of a feminist article (in a polite manner). I must have angered one of the mods who deleted my every post, no matter how non-confrontationally i phrased them s/he simply wouldn't allow me to make my point, then put my account on automatic moderation then finally banned me entirely.

As someone who considers himself something of a liberal that was pretty annoying to say the least

I get banned from the Escapist every other week, yet somehow I am always unbanned. That was really annoying when I used to browse the forums for an unhealthy amount of time, but it did teach me temperance on this site. I don't post nearly as much as I used to.

I've only had two temp bans, no perma bans. One was a game with a built in forum/wiki, think I got a three day ban for that, and the other was here. Think I requested a two week ban.
Never had a perma-ban from anything, game or otherwise.

I've been banned permanently from the Xbox.com forums. it was fairly deserved as I was a huge pain in the bum for them, I was going through a mental breakdown at the time which didn't help.

Don't blame them for it and it was likely one of the things that made me step back from an online presence and start focusiing on myself.

It is funny how the Guardian, which goes on about how they are independent and free to voice whatever opinion, seems to be one of the most over-moderated media outlets going.

Spoiler: Ok, serious answer time

I've been banned from one website, like 10 years ago - some Roleplaying forum, where I didn't let a user into my RP who was apparently buddy-buddy with one of the mods, who perma-banned me for a bunch of contrived reasons. Wasn't too great a loss though, wasn't exactly the most populated website and I think it even shut down like... 6 months later.

As for the joke above - my partner was actually perma-banned from here, The Escapist! He was a little too aggressive/insulting too many times so he got the hammer, but he liked the place enough he recommended it to me when I was forum-hunting. We've got a bit of a joke about it too since I use his laptop when I'm here, whenever I post something salty he'll warn me 'watch out, they might recognize me' since we think (note: neither of us know much about computers) it's the same IP address or something.

I was recently somehow autobanned from here twice for a post in a three years locked thread that did not exist...which was odd but quickly fixed (thanks to the rapid response from our nice mod team).
Other than that nope pretty good all in all.
